In my younger days I worked for a Ford Dealership.
Customer had a problem with a high end Fairlane.
Drove the mechanics nuts this rattle.
Anyway, They finally pulled the Left hand door pillar apart.
Found a 9/16th spanner hanging on a bit of fishing line
with a note on it.
" HaHa, Finally found it. "

Another car had a bit of a problem with the r/h rear door.
Customer bought the car in with an " Imperfection " with
the inner door lining. It had a small bulge in it and some times
the window would not wind right down.

They found a rather good quality air rattle gun sitting in the door.
The air fitting was rubbing on the door lining hence causing the
" Bulge. "

Ford themselves did not argue the " Warranty " claim and happily
replaced all effected parts. :awful:

A mate of mine trusted me with his V8 Capri in the 70"s while he went to Fiji on his honeymoon.
Go over and Start it every second day he said, so I did.
A few mutual friends deposited a couple of flathead fillets in his heater box with devastating results.
poor prick had to sell it, the smell never went away, and I got the blame, but still great mates.

Some time back, my next door neighbour's brother-in-law turned up one day with his brand new (ex-demo) Falcon, 2 door, hard top, to show it off.
The neighbour thought something didn't look right with a rear pillar. He walked up, studied it for a second or two, then slammed his fist through it.
Was cardboard and bog filler. Turned out the ex-demo had been in a prang and the dealer wanted a quick and cheap repair.
Dealer was forced to replace the car with a brand new upgraded model in lieu of bad publicity and a law suit.
