At least you got to sit on the bonnet eating pizza till the tow showed up! Think I would of went and grabbed a long neck as well. Chauffeur home!condor22 said:Left work a few years back, 20km drive, mostly 100kph, Friday night, got home, decided to go get a pizza for tea.
Drove 2kms to the pizza joint (50kph), got the pizza, got back in the car and did a reverse left hand turn out of the parking space.......
BANG - front end drops down on the driver side. Get out to find the wheel at about 45 degrees to vertical. It going nowhere.....
Had to call a tow truck to get the car home and left till Saturday morning to find the lower wishbone had torn off the pin it swivels on. Chassis side was ok, so off to the wrecker for another part and got the car back on the road for Monday morning, great. If memory serves it cost me $75 for the tow truck and $50 for the part, but this was the late 1980s.
The absolute scary part was that I'm so glad it happened when it did and not 15 minutes earlier when I was doing a 100 on the way home.
