Cheers guys. I don't think I'm likely to reconsider, I'm sure it's just part of a bigger story. I'm certainly no expert and happy to make suggestions and advise where I can. Mrs GT and I have had a bit of a chat and spending some more time will be a good thing.

I have a couple of near virgin blocks I want to develop and put in some veggie patches and some simple out buildings. I once ran a market garden size patch (1 1/2 acres) and it was one of the most rewarding times of my life. This time I'll be starting with a blank canvas and I'm excited by that thought, building water storage, pioneer planting, tilling and producing.

In the near future I hope to build another house and I believe this won't leave a whole lot of time. Perhaps I've been a bit selfish for the last year to 18 months and some time spent with the inner circle is something I'm looking forward to. Even the dog has been missing out.

Selling up the gear should go a long way to achieving the funds to take on other pursuits.

Good luck with your new venture GT, I hope you get all the rewards that such a challenge deserves, it'll keep the mind focused that's for sure,
Regards Adrian.

Best of luck GT, the land with the veggie patch sounds good mate and hope it goes great for you, and like you said keep a pan in the boot for them times you do get a chance for a dip by a relaxed creek in the bush somewhere, all the best mate

Good luck with your future plans, sounds like you have your mind set on spending some quality time doing all those things missed out on in the past, good on you for taking the plunge, not an easy decision to make. :)

Greener pastures are very rewarding and meaningful mate, bust of luck with your future endeavors, you will be missed here.
Cheers
Ryan

Hey Wally69, I felt the same way about my boat. Cost me a $1,000 every year whether I used it or not. There are 2 good days with a boat: the day you buy and the day you sell it.
You know the old yarn about the word BOAT: Bring, Out Another Thousand hehehehe!
Good luck GT always enjoy the stories.
Cheers
Mackka

F**%ing Bulls**t.

Prospecting's not over till f***ing Meta says it is ok!

You know I wont piss in your pocket mate.

Harden the f**k up GT.......and thats an order!

Sure, your gonna sell your gear, make a vegie patch, spend more time with the Mrs, hang out with the hunting boys, but you know what?........when your stalking that deer your gonna be looking at the ground and thinking........... mmmmmm, Ironstone and quartz???

Its in your blood, you cant escape bro!

;)

GT...best of luck with the bike and hunting and vegie patch....all worthwhile endeavours!

I'm reading between the lines a little bit and get the feeling that maybe mrs. GT has decided she wants to spend a bit more quality time with GT. Fair enough too...Happy wife, happy life and all that.

The good news is that prospecting will always be there when you get the urge back and it won't cost you while your not using your gear..unlike a boat or bike or guns etc.

Enjoy yourself in whatever you choose to do, that's the main thing.

Best wishes mate

Your inputs will be missed GT, sounds like you have put a bit of thought into it. Hope it all works out for you, like fishing its easy to get back into it should you wish to in the future, for now relax and go with your gut wherever it takes you.

Haha wouldn't expect anything less from you meta. On the plus side you can call past anytime I'll be spending a few weekends over at the block which isn't too far from your regular campsite. Got a few spots literally within shouting distance if you've got a detector packed that have not seen a pi ever. Firewood is on me once the weather turns.

I've left enough for you mate if you come south again. It's kind of embarrassing when a fair dinkum digger like yourself calls me out.

bugger out of the game ??? I suppose the hobby dose take over other things gf fossicking for gems and loads more I get where you are coming from but maybe just a break from it all would be best rather than selling all your gear and never going back to it ?

Cheers bud

WTF.........GT you've had some inspirational posts and I've learnt a lot from your writings.
I'm sitting here at Bemm River fishing and thinking about prospecting and playing music again when I get home, variety is the spice of life for sure.
Mate, all I can do is wish you all the best in your future and hopefully you find the fulfilment you're seeking, please keep dropping in on the forum and I'll be hitting you up for a location shortly when I get out your way.
All the best to you and Mrs GT.

I used to play golf every week for few years but and really enjoyed it. Than I changed jobs and stopped playing because my mates I use to play with from work also stopped for various reasons. I still enjoy the occasional hit but it's like once a year now, usually with clients. So I understand you can loose an interest especially when you are making changes in your life.
I hope you come for a bit of a chat every so often and might even bump in to you somewhere around the traps. Your input will surely be missed. Good luck with your endevours and keep in touch. :)
