Went for a swing on Saturday, and a dig yesterday and I think I've confirmed my interest has just about run its course.
Starting to find it becoming a bit like hard work, and trying to find the time is getting harder. The only toys I have been using are prospecting related. Haven't touched the rods the bike or hunting gear for far too long. Nor spent time with those circles of friends.

I've had a decent offer on the gold which I thought I would never sell and beginning to think I might just sell up the kit as well except an AM sluice, pan, and snuffer.

If anyone is interested I'll be putting up the detector, pin pointer and lesche as a package, aimed as a coin shooter.
Then the rest of my gear including pans, classifiers, sluices, highbankers, pumps, and aluminium sheeting.

The trommel will be offered up back to the builder first before here.

Thought it best to give you guys some pre warning, any gear will go up here first before other sites.
I'm not sad about deciding I've run out of steam. I'll still be floating around the forum just not prospecting other than some panning in a relaxed manner and a bit of easy sluicing during the wet. Cheers.

Iv felt just like that lately' just a bit flat... And I'm not sure if I'm going to recover this time... I too haven't got the Rod wet or fired any shots (LOL)...
It's just a phase' clean the shed so you can use the bench! build a new pot belly stove for the winter' cook some snags on it using beer for oil and go cray fishing.

And Get over it Man!

I'm in the market for a new gold detector but can't make my mind up once I work this out I'll be back to normal.

Good luck with it GT.

I get my ups and downs as well and just sold a
Few detectors.

I am in the same boat. Just sold my Gold detector.
Your either at looking at spending 4k with no
Warranty or the same money and stuck with
The 1 Coil.

Hopefully next years brings more options.

I appreciate the sentiment guys. I did have an offer by a gold prospecting equipment builder to come do some concept work a while ago but passed on the basis at the time I'd rather prospect. I might go and see if that is still something they are interested in collaborating on. I might find the time to write a book I've been meaning to write.
The forum is no less appealing to me despite my lack of enthusiasm for getting out. So many good people and stories here I won't be leaving any time soon.

Any decision is a good decision. .........except the ones you regret

I have that feeling about my boats at the moment....but I just can't let go. The wife and I had a good discussion about the value of simplifying our lives the other night. With so many toys and not enough time to use them, the fun things can sometimes turn into stressful things. My wife has that feeling about my '68 mustang  but I have to draw a line somewhere.

Enjoy your hobbies/friends GT, that should be what life is all about.

Hey there GT, we all respect your choices and from my experience sometimes a break can be a breath of fresh air.
please don't stop your contributions to the forum as I for one have found your posts both entertaining and informative.
just remember mate , you can always get back into it.
Regards Steve :)

I for one hope you reconsider , your posts sparked my interest in sluicing / highbanking . I have found the shuffling of the toys in the box is something needed to keep the mind fresh but it goes in cycles , with your knowledge , a return to prospecting is inevitable and selling the Trommel after your work would be a shame.

Nothing a big nugget would not fix :)

Best of luck

GT before you sell up I'll offer to shovel through that trommel' and see what that baby can do in a day' just PM me I'm free most weekends from now on...also have a few secluded spots that will give it a run with good return we could invite the builder to tag along' He can cook the BBQ?

I've had to sit my stuff aside for the moment GT, as much as I'd like to go out for a swing, I've just got to get my trailer done before I loose the oomph and the concentration ability to achieve it, silly old me decided to do up the table and chairs at the same time(cast iron ones) and found that they take an awful long time to sand blast(ha),... life's what you make of it and you've just gotta do what you've gotta do, no two ways about it, we've only got one turn at it, enjoy it while it's here(every breath of it), so go get that rod wet as much as you can(ha) and the rest will look after itself.

GT mate, make sure you keep poppimng in to say G'day and offer advice, the forum wouldn't be the same without you.

I've had other hobbies which I totally ditched due to fossicking and may go back to them at some point, same with fossicking/prospecting you can ditch it and then take it up again anytime you want.

Prospecting takes a fair chunk of time due to research and exploration and other things don't get the attention they should or need.

Have a break mate, step back and work out what your priorties are, sound like you already have though. :)

A bit sad to see you dropping out GT.

I believe variety is the spice of life but if prospecting is stopping you from doing all the other things you like to do then I can fully understand your decision.

My wife and I will be heading nth very soon with our camper. There will be at least a couple of rods as well as a hunting bow riding in the back with the detector and pans.
