Sorry you're having a hard time with it , bit late to help you now but there are emergency o-ring splice kits available.

I carry one in the truck and fixed a customers Cat Drott 3 weeks ago that had the same problem you had with that leaking ram.

The boys that were supposed to fix yours the first time buggered it up , they probably used the wrong section O-ring on the gland or pinched the O-ring when they screwed the gland back on the barrel , if they used a bit of KY gel on the O rings it eliminates the risk of pinching one during assembly.

Photo of where to find the little buga in case you have to do one again.

How old is your backhoe ?

I find that hydraulic hoses can get to around 15 - 17 years old and all of a sudden they all just start blowing like ~ ~

Some people keep a roll of hydraulic hose and self skive field fit hose tails for spares , you probably have only one or two sizes of hose on that machine so you can make your own hoses on site without a crimper.

The backhoe is probably under 3400 PSI relief so a 2 wire hose would be ample.

The plus side of keeping spares is that if you have a backup you will never need them . it scares away the murphy gremlins. ;)

Spot on Crev... Be a handy bloke to have around mate!! 1986 Massey Ferg backhoe
After that, I took em all the other rams off and got em all done & checked before hand, a heap of new hoses & oil. I am almost over it!

Total upgrade would be a winner in the long run. Lot's to do and maintain before this wet season!!

Did you replace the hydraulic suction hose between the oil tank and the hydraulic pump suction ?

its often overlooked because people focus on the pressure hoses first but if the suction is perished it can allow air to suck in to the pump and cause a cavitation problem , hydraulic pumps can be expensive bug ears to replace.

good to see you had both lift rams resealed , sometimes a tightasss will just reseal one side to save money but if the piston seals are stuffed on the other ram it will bypass oil internally but you wont notice unless your eyes are really sharp , what happens is the loader frame will twist every time the bucket is loaded up and eventually you will get cracks around the pin bosses and sometimes the whole boss will snap off the loader frame.

give the old girl a clean every now and then and check for cracks , they are cheapest to fix if you get on them early.

Gday all, its been a while, its been a hard few months for me, enough to send me quiet, but I am still at it, I know 2021 is the year we kick ass so the operation is expanding in the coming months with equipment and ground, more mining, more machines, more fun and more Gold. Here was a chance to go for a flight to check out some new area's and our mines! More vids soon, got a washplant to upgrade (Vids) got new ground to prospect and mine and show off, Vids series for that a little later in the year. Mining starts soon!
