Hey Rob,
Hopefully I'll talk to you tomorrow at Jason's memorial...

But mate, with those vibrators, they are variable speed yeah??

They don't need to be flat out most times!
You need to find what they call the 'resonant frequency' of the material. So adjust the shaker speed till you find that.

With my big shaker, I learnt a tip from Jacky-Ray, watch a bolt or a weld on the side of the bed, and adjust speed of motor until the bolt looks like its rotating backwards, that's the right shaker speed!!

We got to test & play with a new small 5 tonne per hour shaker washplant, great little unit! Watch this space!

Resonant frequency is correct.

I think his rubber Iso mounts have gone hard too and they are not doing their job , change them for springs and rotate the vibrator 90 degrees , its shaking the screen side to side when what you want is shaking back and forwards.

I would piss off one of them because two can get out of synch and disturb the resonance , better to put one single of a larger size but make sure its shaking front to rear.

Can you tell me the model number on the tag of what you have on there already ? , i want to look up the moment of inertia value for them , i am guessing they are around 7 - 10 kg/cm where maybe a single vibrator of 12 - 18 kg/cm might be required when the deck is loaded and run it at a lower frequency but i would take a photo and ask the distributor to size one for it.

The decks that have an offset shaft in the middle are often ballsed up , i have worked on many where the counterweights have been put on 180 degrees out of whack , the offset shaft is supposed to shake the screen while the counterweights stop everything shaking to pieces. Not many people understand that bit.

Looking at the side of the screen as you say , you should see this motion like the pic below , it doesnt have to be much , even 4 - 6 mm for a screen that size.

Hi Rob
Just wanted to encourage you with that shaker deck.
It look well made but has some critical mistakes.
CreviceSucker has identified those mistakes well as I was thinking the same as him when I looked at your photos.
Cheers Greg?

You boys are on the money with the shaker! Looks like the last owner never had it running right either.
The other thing was the 3 faze gen set failed/broke and became lightning in a box!! Will need a new one to test it or re wire to 240.
Would a speed dial help?
Its just on/off, no adjustment.

We got ripped off with this one. Trying to make the best of it, or scrap it. :8

I think it still has good potential
I am trying to work out how to post a photo of my wash plant and I have also tried ringing you.
Cheers ?

We would use a VFD when tuning speed on 3 phase trommels or conveyors but If they are geared right from the factory they dont need to be fiddled with , I prefer it that way for simplicity especially if youre sending plant into Africa or PNG , there is less to break down and less things for locals to stuff up , except some countries use 60 Hz which is a pain in the azzz because a 4 pole motor will be doing 1800 RPM instead of 1475 RPM.

Best solution for that deck is to send a photo to 2-3 vibratory drive specialists and ask their opinion on sizing , are those rubber mounts still rubbery or did they go to ***** ? Hard to be sure from the photo but if you replace them with new rubber then get on to McKay rubber , they are aussie owned but otherwise go to springs , I can send you the company name that does them if you need it.

That Vermeer loader has some freaky stuff happening with the rams on the loader frame lift rams , see how bent they are in that photo ? Wonder if that was another rebadge job where they put their sticker on a machine made in x country . could be up for new gland seals in that one too before long.

Ps , can you do something high tech to cover up the bearing on that flash trailer jockey wheel to keep out the water and grit ? , maybe a plastic cap from a paint spray can (OEM)

What did your mate pay for his trailer mounted washer ?

Just curious what people are paying for their toys ?

Ps , if you tidy up the screen it wouldnt hurt to convert it back to having the screen clamped so its under tension , it will transfer the shake better from the frame rather than the screen moving around on the frame , those blocks of wood were not OEM.

The motors have been changed from one big one by the look the old marks and bolt holes on the plant! Close inspection only, you see it!
We have put new rubbers on the plant. I agree clamped would be better, but for now the screen is center bolted to the deck, the wood is there to just keep the material from messing up the bolts & keep it away from my doggy welding! ;)
Yea mate, at 4 thousand dollars a pop! I only ordered 3 more and got the crew to make a small cover to pop on the guide wheels.
:playful:
As for the Vermeer Dingo thingy, I could not tell you mate? It may be the Go Pro camera?? Or there bent as!?
Just letting the big boys have a play on the mine for a few days.

Ill come back to this plant in dry season, but planing to upgrade the Trommel a bit first.

Got a new vid up of the same old ding dong. Its almost the end of the mining season, prospecting and stockpiling on the menu now.
A break down nightmare has cost a full month's work, out of a 4 month washing season, its was that tough reality I was not quite ready for,
another vid perhaps?

Anyway lets keep it to the good stuff shall we...

:playful:

Living the dream mate . Keep at it and you will be a brazillionaire soon enough.

I was going to post a photo of a Brazillion but she went shopping ( kidding . she isnt from Brazil )
