Australia's first known shipwreck is of the Trial , a ship of the English East India Company that was wrecked off the coast of Western Australia in 1622.

Some tourists got stranded on one of the 12 apostles when the earth bridge collapsed behind them and they had to be rescued by helicopter.
 
Yep,
She was in dry dock on Malta, 50 miles and 15 minutes flying time from heavy Italian bombers based in Sicily. The Italians bombed hell out of Malta but with little impact apparently and their marksmanship was apparently lacking as they couldn't hit the Vendetta as she laid helpless in dry dock.
