Here is the details on my previous question about the first commercial shipment from the colony.
In 1801 the brig Lady Josepha, 120 tons, the first vessel of any size to enter Hunter's River, loaded 150 tons of coal for Sydney. This cargo was sold to Captain Tennent of the Earl Cornwallis who was preparing to sail for Bengal. Commenting on this sale, Governor King wrote; 'This is the first return made from New South Wales." It was indeed the colony's first export.
