Hi, im not to sure if this has been used already but here goes.
This man was a solider, explorer and so called inventor. He was born in Scotland and has an animal named after him.

The animal has me going!! mmm Mr Horse, Fred Crocodile?
John Muir is all I could find that was close, but apart from love of animals , fell short.
Will be interesting

Thats him, :) he invented or modified a boat propeller which was called the Boomerang Propeller, as well as discovered many of our inland rivers.

I was born a very curious person. I was responsible for inventing some of the greatest well known items that one of them is still in use today.
I was indirectly responsible for changing the world as we see it today.
Who was I?
