You will be surprised on what goodies are lying around both front/backyards. My house came up with a few pre-decimals, including silver, and a couple of Lesney cars. Got yourself some great finds there Atom. ;)

Cheers mate! All thanks to a great wand! My back gardens trashy from old farmer Jim from years back and the front garden is trashed out from me scrapping whitegoods for years. The coin was up the very top, suprisingly the last place i thought, but recently a mains cable got bored under the tar and mabey the workers kicked up the coin as the road sits nearly half a meter above its original level. I wish i had more width on the property. Im on a small 1/4 of an acre block which is a squished long rectangle. A mineshaft once exsisted 20m which is interesting too

The original farm / homestead is just up the road about 10 houses on the hill which overlooked the once were paddocks now residential. Id love to gain permission to detect there.. .

Rain is softening the hard clay here today so ill get to detect where i couldnt yesterday now too :) sun isnt far away from breaking through and i can head out

Still havnt had the chance to detect..hooefully tomorrow. Went for a quick stroll today with mrs.atom and thought I'd share what we found even though its not detected finds. Some great stuff around where houses / farms are no more.

amazingly little travelled area(the widows still intact show that),.... I love how they just left em where they stopped in the old days. :D

Be a lot of people interested in that truck. Make a great restoration or rat Rod. I guess the same would be true for the engine.
We have Steamfest here every year and I love wandering around talking to the guys with restored stationary engines. Steam, hit n miss... all types. There is also the Cranky Handle rally with some cool old machinery.

Cool as RJ, we have one here I help out at sometimes called Crank Up! where there's engines, cars, axe / chopping races, draught horse etc. I've got a Lister 2.5hp, Buzzacot 3HP, Champion 2.5HP, and a couple of other small ones sitting about here I've bought real cheap in the years ( well, apart from the one I drove to S.A to get because I thought it was a 'bargain' Ill post the engines one day when I have a good camera mate

There's no track at all into this place, unless a D9 were to accidently trip so thet are probably going to be left there for a while. Ill keep them company ;) mabey a hug of oil or wd40 just to make them last longer

Met up with a great bloke today, the Numpy off the forum. Absolute legend!

We have no finds hahahhahaha and had our own clean up Australia day today ripping pulltabs and bottletops like no tomorrow. Its strange how some of the best looking areas yield nothing. I think we need to research a little about the location. We met up round 10am at a park and introduced ourselves and had a yarn about all sorts before getting to swinging after a quick rundown of Numpty's Coinmaster ( seemed modded ). The start of the day sucked us in by giving us each a 10c coin and I got a dollar before he arrived, after the 10c finds though, we got nothing.

Started to think that someone else had been there, but if they had we wouldn't be getting the deep pulltabs. Don't know what went on, just one of them days. We lasted as long as the heat and backs told us to stop, eagerly trying to find SOMETHING we could share but it didn't happen. I think we departed at around 3pm so 5 hours of back breaking for no result is a bit of a downfall, but the best part of the day was meeting up with Numpty, glad it finally happened!

He blames the lack of coin on his n00b detecting but I think the area just wasn't being kind to us ;)

Sounds like t was done in the old days with a detector that was only capable of detecting shallow targets,.. except for all the strong high tones(they may have scored them a bit deeper still as well),.. if it's just pull tabs at depth you are still in the running for gold rings and sovs,... but that's the most likely scenario for what happened,... or maybe someone recently with a yew beaut machine could have cherry picked it using a good set of numbers. :D

Bit of a bummer :(
Those days do happen though... Unfortunately we all have those days
Upside is you met a good bloke ,enjoyed our great outdoors , left the place better than when you arrived , you ticked that site off your list and you learnt the value of research.
Im sure your next hunt will be more productive ;)

Ill keep trecking about with Numpy till we get the honeyhole. I know its there. Most targets were at the same 'level'. I guess it is possible that someone who really knows what they are doing with a good detector could simply dig the good targets. We did have a feeling that the children's playground bark had holes scattered over it.

No giving up for these iron soldiers mate, we just farted in the wrong direction today that's all

I should mention about the chinese saxaphone player who was sitting under the 'widow maker' tree. ( pine cones from cockies in the tree kept falling..very close! Too close for Numpty as one was a couple of feet away from his noggin! )

..anyway, he thought detecting looked better than blowing brass so he came and had a chat, well, his first words were 'no english' so we had a basic talk but still amusing and thought I'd share a snippet. I cut off the film short, but he picked up the detector and started swinging teaching us the word for metal as I showed him the noises which are good. I thought it was a funny part of the day and gave us something to laugh about haha

Some places are just duds, had one last night after our detecting club Christmas party, absolutely squat. :D Though we had a token hunt for the club party, and I ended up finding 8 tokens and $11 in goldies, so sometimes you just can't pick them. :)
