Tickets have now completely SOLD OUT in a record time of 7 hours :eek:

Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets, your support means a lot and I wish you all the very best of luck for the draw. And again thank to Ramjet for contributing the Garrett Deluxe Pan Set.

Proceeds of the Raffle will be used to cover server hosting and other site costs for the second half of 2014 as well as pay for additional hosting for our backups. The site has grown so much that downloading nightly backups to my computer is just not a viable option anymore.

Cheers,
Nugget

~~~ WOW ~~~ :eek:
I only saw this thread for the first time, less than 10 minutes ago (about 11:30pm)
I was going to buy 5 tickets (I got some money in the bank in the past 24 hours) :)
Maybe next time you could sell 1,500 or even 2,000 tickets? ... Noticed some of the buyers (including myself -- although I missed out) weren't even active members for the Christmas raffle -- so no doubt a raffle with such great prizes will attract a flurry of interest nowadays!
Next time ...
By the looks of it Dave I could have sold a million tickets and it still would have sold out in no time. For obvious reasons (higher prize value) we lifted the number of tickets for this Raffle from 500 to 1000, and once again I was blown away at how quickly they sold. I guess when it comes down to it everyone had the same chance of purchasing tickets, it just a matter of whether or not you're quick enough to grab some.
I did send an email out to all members this afternoon as well as put it up on our Facebook page, but for the next one I'll try and provide 24 hours notice.
Saw that email just around 11:30 ... That's what got me over here to check :)
Due to a need to focus on work related emails as the priority over the many others I get, I have recently applied a swag of email filters that leave little else besides work emails in my inbox -- the majority of other subjects go straight into folders (only reason I didn't see this one earlier = it's a hobby, not work :p)
All good -- though I still think a larger number of tickets may be warranted :)
Cheers,
Dave :cool:
Nugget,
Might I suggest, that for future raffles, given the speed at which this one sold, that you initially limit the numbers available to 5 or 10 per member for the first few days. In this way the many dissappointed members (including me) might at least "be in it to win it" and feel like we are supporting the Forum as well. I noticed at least one member purchased 25 tickets, that's 40 people if everybody bought 25, an initial 5 limit opens that to 200 people.
You can always increase the limit after reaching a half way point from opening to drawing it. :)
A bit like "nobody gets seconds in the dining room till everybody's been fed".
I think we have all been blown away by how fast the tickets sold out.
Nugget doubled the number of tickets from the last raffle and this one sold out in 1/3 the time.
Just a quick question, other than a paypal receipt is there supposed to be any other confirmation of entry?
Cheers
Adam
The PayPal confirmation is the only confirmation provided. All purchases have been added to a list and names will soon be added to physical tickets. As they're added to the tickets they are marked off the list to ensure none are missed.
While I understand the disappointment felt by those who missed out on tickets, it's important to understand that the raffle could have gone either way. We might have only sold a quarter of the tickets leaving me out of pocket and adding no benefit to the forum. It's really something that can't be predicted even based on previous ticket sales and I certainly didn't anticipate such an overwhelming response.
I appreciate all the feedback and will take it into consideration for the next raffle.
Cheers,
Nugget
Could there be a difference in member and paid member?
I purchased tickets cause it goes to the running of this site. But I would also be happy to be a paid member
