Gday All,
I've been interested in metal detecting for quite a few years but never got started for a number of reasons. Anyway after way too much procrastinating I have recently bought a Garrett AT Gold to finally kickstart what ive wanted to do for so long.
I'm located in Canberra and im fortunate enough to have friends with property nearby in Braidwood who have already given me the go ahead to try my luck. Last weekend I went out there and tried for about 15mins but very quickly realised that I had no idea what I was doing. I decided to down tools and to go away and learn the basics on what im supposed to be doing. Probably should have done that in the first place, but my impatience won over. I just wanted to get out there and give it a go.
I've spent countless hours watching youtube videos which provide tons of education as to how to use the various detectors as well as reading the multitude of forums out there. Ive been absolutely hooked on watching and reading about how others from all over the world are enjoying this prospecting experience. One of the first things that I realised is that ive got a long way to go and that I need to be very patient so that I can learn it all properly from the start to make sure that I don't get frustrated and give it up before I get to experience what im hoping will be a long time hobby.
Anyway, i've joined this site because i've noticed that the help and advice on here always seems to be freely given and also that you guys appear to have already developed the patience that im fairly sure i will need to work on.
I look forward to posting here regularly and with a bit of luck, with some nice pics of treasures unearthed using my newly gained knowledge.
Cheers,
Brett
