On the second piece, is that gold insitu in the quartz or is it a bit of alluvial stuck to the quartz with some mud? Or is it a bit of both? Hard to tell from the photos but it looks like two rounded alluvial bits stuck and 2 reefy bits that are actually part of the quartz…?On the way back to the city so I stopped at Creswick near campground 2.
Got this giant quartz bit with a bit of gold in it and a couple of small bits.
Don't have a funds jar so I've had to put the 2 bits in my tobacco pouch.
Hope I don't end up smoking them lol
I think they are all in the quartz @Northeast . I tried to pick them out on site but they wouldn't budge. I'll try again in the morning. On the second piece, is that gold insitu in the quartz or is it a bit of alluvial stuck to the quartz with some mud? Or is it a bit of both? I got em @sand surfer . I was sure I found another bit making 3 all up but I couldn't find that tiny bit and I started thinking the heat had gotten to me. Got it in the end. Just smoked more lolor flicking them out in the dark thinking they are a bit of stem
You must have had a very memorable year! Most of what I found in 22
Remember over in Meekatharra some years ago getting a distinct signal from one side of a large quartz boulder. Just didn’t have anyway to smash the gold out of it and It was far too large for me to carry back to the car so I just turned it over so the signal side was face down and just left it there. On the way back to the city so I stopped at Creswick near campground 2.

Well done, mate - that's great stuff and thank you for sharing the pic with us.
This is what I got out of the quartz bit. I'm rich lol
Yeah possibly were at some time. There are a lot of places around Creswick where there are squillions of quartz rocks strewn around from all the old time diggings.HaHa, from a distance they looked to be chunks of a rich reef of gold, perhaps they were.......
Beautiful. I'd be happy with that1st bit for 2023 View attachment 6962
