Detector went nuts and it was this rock. It never did this before
Covered in crud so i pocket it for later thinking a nug could be stuck on it. Found this after cleaning. Discrimination on the detector was spot on. Went back to the spot and so many signals...so many rocks.

Added to the 2019 jar for 93 tiddlers, mainly SDC gold, but it all adds up.

A great year spent in the bush around a camp fire and catching up with forum members.

Have a happy new year everyone.

Regards Anthony.

Hello everybody happy new year, been a while since I posted last but the journey continues. Had a great time in WA Nth of Kalgoorlie on a friend's leases and did ok, about 2.5 oz over a couple of months. Was extremely fortunate to come across a very knowledgeable bloke with 40 yrs detecting experience who quiet freely parted with quite a bit, especially in regards to getting the most out of the detector and coils. Been back to Brisbane to see my new granddaughter and would quite happily post photos of her but I post the WA nuggets instead :p
Cheers Andy

Piece on the right was one of the weirdest targets Ive found. Had been over the spot at least twice and didnt hear it. Once more and got a very broad sound like ground noise but with a faint warble. Dug a few inches and exactly the same. Another couple of inches and still the same, no louder. One more dig and noise gone. Swing over the pile and it screamed. Just one of them weird targets I guess.

Another day today with my wife and son exploring the GT and looking for our first nugget, but still no luck. We visited Moliagul to see the location the Welcome Stranger was discovered, and tried a few spots within 15 minutes drive of there. We wont give up, but geez, weve done the hard yards over the last 6 months, dug a heaps of targets, but still no gold. Grrrrr!

Keep going Franco. It took me months and then it began to happen. Perseverance is the first priority and you'll improve on skills as you advance.

Thanks Ben Digo.
We will get there eventually, however it would be great to find that first piece.
We are all bitten by the bug and enjoy out time in the bush, and hunting for the reward.
Cheers.

Couple of hours on some private property near home.

About 100 .22 casings, projectiles, lead shot, .17 centre fire casings and random bits of crap. Used the QED and the Equinox.

After about 2 hours of trying different spots I found this piece about 1.5 metres from where I'd sat my bag :awful:

With the Equinox amongst some trash. 1 boot scrape and it had moved and assumed it was more lead. A slight push with the coil and it could be seen just sitting there. Smack on a gram. But it had no friends :|
