I have only used it for around 30 mins. So can not say whether it's good or bad.

I do like how it covers more ground and it does not tilt sideways like the blue one.

Seems noisy with a bigger coil. But I really haven't spent any time on it to see if the threshold break is really noticeable on feignt targets.

I am still learning the GPZ so spend every minute using it.

I bought the Coiltek coils cause the original blue one is falsing when any downward pressure is applied whilst detecting.

Minelab checked it. Was going to be $750 to replace so I bought the 14x9 and 10x5 Coiltek Coils as an alternative.

My boys use the SDC when they come with me. That's rare now that everyone's working.

Cheers

Recent Trip to the Goldfields.

Went out for a 5 day stint recently. No Luck involved here. Pure trial and error plus hard work and persistence.

Three things you battle. The Heat. The flys and your minds own weakness.

The largest one went 2.8gms and was found on the way back to the car on my last day. Literally the last target of the trip. Was also in a previously dug hole. Iffy signal. The kind that you swear the bedrock is giving off a hot rock sound. Was at least 30 cm down breaking out rock with my pick. Learnt something new again!!!

Gold really is where you find it!! 2 bits just shy of the half gram mark.

Typical ground. 4 inches down into gravel and pipeclay. 0.2 gm bits. Found with GPZ. SDC with 14x9 coil picked them up, but some only cause I knew there was a target there.

The trips tally. Very happy with that.

I did a very rough count up to 200 bits of lead and rusty metal and reckon there was at least another 100 tiny bits.

Really nice result there RS. We can see by the junk that came with it that LUCK doesn't quite come into it. A friend of ours bought the little elliptical Coiltek for the SDC. He's quite happy with it but it seems to be very close in performance to the original coil. I would expect the larger sized coil to be similar in performance to your GPX4500 and therefore not much use when you already have the 4500.

Cheers MB,

I don't have a 4500. I ended up with a GPZ.

I am embarrassed to say, I could not tame the 4500, I had after learning on the SDC.

Didn't have clue how to operate the 4500!!

Love seeing your adventures and gold. Certainly next level compared to my world.

Cheers

Not sure if this is the right place for this but its part of what I do when I get out detecting. Anyway I generally bring home a bucket of dirt to pan out when I get home . Its just as a bit of a curiosity thing , just to see whats there. 90 percent of the time theres always some very fine gold in the pan. Nothing worth pursuing but I find it interesting that its there in almost every pan.
If my genetic makeup was better ide be panning grams per day but alas Im just a simple folk.

Bjay,

I do the same. Gives me some gold time at home between trips. The rocks from classifying get used in the garden or pot plants and the water/clay goes on the lawn or gardens. It 4 to 5 hours to the closest gold for me.

Two trips ago I detected 5 tiny nuggets/flakes on one mound, so I took home a few buckets from that spot. 0.10gms came out. Bits too small or too deep that the GPZ could not see.

Last trip I thought I d try the other side and only got 0.03gms.

Would be a good spot for some highbanker action but alas in NSW it's illegal and there's no water nearby anyway.

Cheers

Took advantage of the cooler weather and hit a little spot I found last week that gave me 10 grams before it got too hot.

Got another 13 grams with the biggest bit going a bit over 5gr. Same again, the ground is getting too hot to pick up so called it early.
It might be a night time job I think
