Myself my wife and a mate were out Heathcote way today and by 1pm the score was 2 - 0 in my mates favour. We moved to a new spot and my wife found a couple of fresh digs in a raked out area so we decided that we should run the SDC over it, With the area raked for us and a bit extra that we raked ourselves we found 10 bits whicn put us well and truly in the lead. My mate ended up finding a nice 1.06 gram bit which put him back in the lead on the weight scale.
We had a great day out in the bush and can't wait to get back out there.

That's a nice day out wooly. We tried the Nanango field yesterday. The roads are a little difficult to navigate. The young blokes were there with the old bunkys enjoying ripping up the tracks. You need good ground clearance on your 4WD. We went everywhere but had to be very selective on which track to take not only to avoid the worst of the washouts but to avoid the trees as well. I was hoping Mrs M would turn up something with the SDC but no luck. There was another guy swinging an SDC with the same result. I did a great job with the ATX cleaning out about half a kilo of rusty junk. :/

Smallest did not even register on the scales!

Nice finds, maybe try and put a larger nugget or some other weight on the scales first and then put the little one on there. It's happened to me before as well but after doing that I was able to get a reading :)

Good advice, thanks I will try that!

I'll have to lend RS my highbanker pickers to put on the scales first.

I dug these two little bits out of Stepping Stones Range. They are heavy like gold. The little one is 2.15g and scrapped back to silver like lead. The bronze coloured one is 2.4g and is too hard to scrape with my fingernail.

I've put them both in Alibrite for 2 days but so far no change. The small one has what looks like limestone all over and the bronze one has the same stone on the bottom and it still there.

How long does it take for Alibrite to take the stone away?

Nice finds Wooly. I know a fella with a SDC2300 and he seems to have trouble picking up the small pieces, when I show him the
sub grammars I get with the 5000 he can't believe it... Looks as though your onto them though.
Always puts a smile on your dile doesn't matter how big they are.

Cheers Rudy
