I went out with Mark and Ronda from Gold Prospecting Australia the other day - my first time prospecting. I got about 20-25 targets with the sdc 2300 and found 3 small pieces of gold, about 0.3g in total, the rest were all lead, but I had a great time regardless. I originally booked the tour as a means to figure out if I'd like detecting or not before buying a detector, but I went ahead and bought an sdc 2300 a few days before. All the posts here and youtube videos have made me super keen and the other day made me even more keen.

I forgot to mention - we were about 2 minutes out from Bendigo, I forget the name of the area though but apparently it's been well worked so I was quite please to find a bit of gold my first time out. The other group I was with found some similar sized pieces as well which was great.

Gonna head out next week on my own.

Cazella, well done on your first trip. Very few find their first for months of trying. Whipstick Gully? Seems there is a Whipstick Gully/Track in every goldfield - even here at Warrandyte. Seems the Whipstick Acacia is prevalent across all the GT.

Mark mentioned Whipstick Gully but I cannot remember if he said that's where we were or we were near it.

No need to mention where your gold came from Cazella, as long as you got some inland from a beach (ha). ;) :D
