Thanks very much guys.
Lol, the ant next hadn't been harassed when I found it :0

Now I also found this rock, extremely heavy for its size and freaked the 2300 out. As I am a total newb, does anyone have an idea on what I should do. I can see no obvious gold on it but its brittle like sandstone. So to heavy for what it is.

Nice work! Maybe crush the big one and pan it? If its brittle, it may be sandstone with fine gold through it, or it might just be a hot one?

Great finds! Dewalt, Try and break up the chunk to see if one piece sounds off better than the other, keep going until you strike the gold. :D If it all just keeps on squealing definitely get all the chunks in the dolly pot and then pan it out. If the golds big enough you might then see it once crushed a bit. Keep us all posted.

Thanks for the advice guys, used the Garrett on it and found two spots that it went of on. Smashed them up but found nothing obvious, so I suppose that means Panning? Such a learning curve :) Beach = beep dig pocket :)

Edited, at least I got a Avatar :)

Lots of chunky hot rocks at Jupiter Creek Dewalt. I'm on a roll at the moment, their jumping out at me everywhere but you've gotta keep trying, the day will come when you crack one open and it's like a caramel creme egg with the gold shining bright inside... we can only hope. ;) Good luck!

Its been way too long since I've been out for a swing. Been doing too much MX riding and being in our new house has taken up all my time with the odd jobs that present them self (or the misses presents haha).
Finally got out for a swing today and tried a few spots with no love. Dug a heap of trash and after getting bitten by 3 bull ants whilst retrieving a target I cracked the ***** and went to the spot i spent the last 2 hours at. After spending a while in a gully with no luck I found myself drawn to a hillside below some reef workings. After a few sweeps I managed to snag a target.
BANG! GOLD! Its on!
Spent 2 hours in a small area with the ***** just jumping out of the ground at me.
Got on the blower to Keano straight away to let him know of the fun i was having and telling him to get his rakes and detectors ready. Gave the area a semi thorough working before it was time to leave.
On the way back to the car I managed to snag another piece on the same hillside a little further along. There's heaps of ***** on the ground, burnt logs, leaves, little shrubs, tussock and ferns so I can't wait to get back out there with Keano to clean the joint out.
This was one of the most enjoyable days on the gold that ive had, man ive missed it!
Total was 2.2grams.
Sorry for the lengthy post, I hope its not painful to read.

No pain at all, well found Walshie ,... may run deeper than your detector can see ! :p :D

Very encouraging Walshie. I'm heading out in a few weeks with my 4500 for a first swing in gold country. I replaced the ATX with the 4500 hoping I could get all those little ones that I knew I walking over.

What coil are you using?

Thanks fellas.
Good luck with your new 45 moneybox. Hope you snag some yellow. I was using the 11" coiltek elite.

I take the mrs, she carries the water, snacks, different coils and rake.
just trying to bribe her to get me an sdc2300, she wont have to carry spare coils anymore......... hahaha!

Haha Paul has the right idea. You must have her well trained mate.
Can't wait to get back out there Keano. Hoping they just keep coming!

Great work on getting gold first time out, especially at Jupiter Creek. All the species I've found there have been in the more brittle reddish rock. The denser black stuff (has a bit of a silver twinkle when you crack it) has never produced colour for me.

What I normally do is crack the rock in half, and scan both pieces. If you are getting an equal signal off both bits then there's a high probability it's just a hot rock. If one side is much sharper, then keep cracking ;)
