We also stopped at Milparinka for couple of hours to look for petrified wood.

Great results, Joe!!! I'm supposed to be doing a run to Yowah in August but if there's a change in the nsw/qld border rules I'll be going to white cliffs instead, so this post has me VERY excited!

Cheers
Dan

Hi Dan, got your inbox and thanks. The 101 I got for the short time (few days spending on the fields) is as follows and hope it helps. Look for old mullocks overgrown, square small holes, the rain would have exposed some potch( opal without colour). If you see the glassy looking potch take about 1/2 - 1 meter away and use a brush or gloves to seive through if you dont have a 3/4 inch seive. Apparently the old times used to throw away the blue and green. its a luck of a draw which mulock you hit and you could spend few days on that mullock mate. Cheers Joe

Still smashing those cuts out of the park, Wally! Very nice work.

Hope you've been well. :Y:

Cheers,
Shauno.

Thanks Shauno, all good at this end, hope you have been enjoying that country freedom and getting onto some buried treasures lately.

Would love to be out chasing gold and gems but lockdown has some benefits . forcing me to cut a few stones, feel my skills improve with every stone.

Hi all,
Here's another piece from our collection. Just took a couple snaps with the iPhone as I don't have anything in the macro lens range for my Canon as yet.

This is a large museum quality Stibnite specimen. These alloy crystals are the result of volcanic pressures and actions on Antimony Sulphides. While many great specimens of Stibnite are coming out of Southeastern China now, this one was from Bulgaria I believe (I will check that with my father though). Quite stunning to see crystals in a metallic form. I added the 20c piece in for scale. It weighs about 5kg. We had the custom box made just for it back in the late 80's.

Kindest regards,
Shauno.

I've seen a specimen of that quality from Nagambie Victoria (Melbourne Museum collection).
