Awesome Ben. Barefoot and bringing the scales I like it. Nice little picker, definitely worth a dig. Great share.

Hi all

Finally got something to share - Here's the result from my first time out at Oallen Ford with my homemade Walbanker inspired Highbanker.
According to the scales it's about 0.15g :D

Is that what you got from the day that I saw you guys out there with the highbanker a few weeks back?

Well done :)

Some little nuggies to start off 2015 with the 5000

Hi all, did some mods to the high banker & wanted to test it out. Also got a 5hp honda/Davey pump to supply me with the tons of water to blast clay.
New (to me) spot & was happy with result & will b back for a better crack once it cools down n there's more water around. Recirculating water from stagnant sections of creek sucks.

And you're drinking gold too.... nice work AgMan

I've started on my wet prospecting adventures properly now. Still not sure if I'm doing everything right, much more testing still to happen.
Good work mate I would run some fine expanded mesh over the top of the crate to be sure you don't miss out on any goldy rocks but looks the part

Hi everyone,

I spent 2 hours down at Warrandyte this afternoon and got a little bit to show for it.

As you can see in the pics, I dug behind a largish rock towards the side of the stream. I didn't dig much more after taking the pic so I'll head back to that spot next time I'm there and see if it's still there, and if so, I'll dig the rest. Got a good little amount from only about a 5 gallon buckets worth and 2 hours of my time...well, for warrandyte anyway.

Tried a shot through the loupe and you can see that some of it is very rough gold. Its quite insteresting. Clearly hasn't moved far?

I see an old china man with a wheelbarrow beside/behind him in that nice rough nuggetty looking loupe shot,.. you must have felt like one of the old boys, down the creek with a pan and shovel PotOfGold.

I just wrote up a nice post for here but when i clicked post it disappeared

Anyways here is the results from last dig in gympie, a little old but after looking at some of the awesome finds in this thread I felt the need to contribute something. Stay tuned for the results from my latest gympie dig, just got to get home to a camera and some scales..

1.2g in the big specimen if the person who did the specific gravity test knows their stuff. All the nuggets came in under 1/4g unfortunately. Gympie gold can be deceptively light. I'm quietly confident i might just beat that result this time, stay tuned.

Good one adam. :D
Its all in the digging! You dont dig you wont find it!
I found out your gold is different to mine mate ;)
Your is quartz origin and mine is iron ore and we were only digging 500m apart hahahaha safe trip home mate nice to meet ya.

I really liked your gold yobskin, hell I like all gold but variety is the spice of life haha
Next time I am in gympie it will be hard to decide between having a dig on the downstream side of that bank or go do some real prospecting and look for something a little different. The amount of different rock types i found that had been mined there is quite interesting, I really like that place.
By the way, when the creek drops again you will see a big rock with a rope tied to it in the creek, i got some really nice little nugs at that point but pretty much NO small gold. It is demoralising to pan out 7/8 buckets of dirt without seeing a spec but when it did show it was really something else. I know you don't mnd getting a little wet for the yellow :D
I went back to get my rope (my dog lead) and finishing backfilling the upper part of my hole before i left but the current and deeper water prevented me from retrieving it. Unless the creek washed it away it will be a convenient marker, some good hardpack still there ;) Left the lower part open for the weekenders which I know will be back again after the specs they got during my panning lessons haha Good relics and specimen gold coming out of the black layer and just below it either side of that part of the hole before i followed the lead of gold upstream.

Some of my Australia day Gold, I couldn't get to Oallen or Tuena cause id already booked a recon trip with Jukebox and John. Gold can be hard to find in NSW, so its nice to find an alluvial spot where the gold doesn't suck up the sniffer bottle, that's when you know the research has paid off. Not very often when the gold is also found in the classifier!!

Murphys law just as we got on to it we had to go home, but I know where it is now....took a lot of test panning, and head scratching....I knew we were in gold country and all the indicators were strong...... and almost gave up. SO the lesson is guys, just because a dozen test pans don't reveal a single speck of gold, sometimes you DO have to dig deeper. Not every area has "flood gold" that sits close to the surface. This dig proved that you don't give up, you just have to work out where it is even when you think its not there. And it was getting bigger and bigger but WE HAD TO GO HOME!
