Ps would love to see yoir setup...
I'll see what I can do, after a scotch induced stuff up (for the 2nd time) mrs dwt has put a ban on the purchase of "another" computer, so I'll try to convince her to let me take the iPad tomorrow when I head out for day 2 of my dig, I'll try to get some pics of the box and set up, while its running, :D
Imsza finking a day with GT as well mate, or maybe 2!!!

Great pics there GD...Now that I've seen the beast in all its glory I cannot see how you could lose any gold out of that setup. Sounds like you have done your homework and earnt yourself a degree in trigonometry or something :D Good on you for being willing to share all your hard earned knowledge.

Hopefully I may be able to help feed that thing one day.

Thanks for sharing mate

I like it mate. At the risk of asking a silly question do you find that the mats do alot better at a flatter pitch due to what factor? Water velocity, material, width or combinations of these? Is certainly flatter than I've ever tested.

Before the subject is forgotten about here is a sluice matting I make myself from corflute signs:

I ran 10" of it in my old hibanker' setup however and nothing gets past it, the larger material glides over it as its hard plastic not rubber' just thought it was worth sharing as you can still run stretch mesh over it'
Unfortuanly there is a nack to cut it out I use Tig wire and good old stanley.

cool! i think headsup cuts his own mat too from memory.... my only concern would be flat round gold that might tumble tumble if it lands sidewayz but i'm guessing you dont run it too aggressively? is it more like slight slope drop riffle

In the past iv ran mesh over the top and classifies down to 1/2" this next build will have a section before bread crate riffles tho' just this matting under normal riffles works pretty dam good and self cleans well' I don't expect to see anything after.
It's runs fast & slow as each tiny riffle creates its own separate turbulence "mini riffle"

Just rethinking your question mate... if you want to run less water you need more angle. When you run more water yoi can pitch back bit only so far before you pack up.
True. I have tested the pitch angle of slick or delivery plate to increase velocity to reduce/decrease the over all angle of the capture configuration resulting in earlier gold drop outs coupled with less water flow.

Thats allwe can do mate test and test some more :) i use clinometer app to dial my runs in now.

For those who havent done the math 9.5 degrees is about 2 inches per foot of drop. 7 is about 1.5

Nice, I am guilty of not checking the bottom sieve thoroughly. Great find and pic, thanks for sharing!

What was the weight of those big Mercury covered gold nuggets in the bottom of the sieve?

haha you had me going for a second.... these are mercury coated pyrite mate :) plenty of them.

That looks pretty similar to that other little nuggy you had in those buckets of cons you brought over GD. Great looking stuff

gotcha. :D :D

I thought the bottom one looks more like lead with that mark in it; looks malleable. :8

Need a coin for scale so I can tell if it's good or really good! :D
Lol just good mate .16 on the scales
Haha well if it's on the forum I'd like to see the bits that don't get shown to the world 8) Not a bad score though, can't get too excited waiting for the multi grammers without a coil involved, anything above Par for the course is a win in my book.
