Just did recon mission to the Tooloom area sampling an old lead.
No water close by.
Backpacking sample dirt out back to the vehicle to pan.
Colour in pic was the only successful sample and was the last sample at the very top of the lead.

Tooloom has been a good producer for many detectorist, I know of a few 3+ ouncers coming out of that area good luck with your sampling 20x :Y:

I remember 30 years ago working in an abbatoir in Wagga that if it reached 40deg in the shed we would up stumps and head home.This was a Union rule.Funny thing was the thermometer was always in the hottest part of the shed.

Went out on private property south west of Warwick . The biggest clinker detected being .77g so far , cant seem to crack a grammar yet . Was running out of time and dug six bags of dirt for panning at home , will take several weeks to pan and re-pan . So far so good , really happy with my biggest gold prospecting success so far .

Thanks Heatho and smoky it was south west of Warwick , the property had 2 old gold mine shafts on it , but long bulldozed . Was a lucky stumble on that patch running down to the creek bed , I detected 20 peices and dug a fair bit to pan . Yeah will be staying for a while next trip Heatho.

Thanks Sinhof, gold is not common mate , as you know luck mixed with information and some research plays a role. But the beaches are my default setting in my mind still

Yeah some of it does , the ones from the creek do the nuggets further up into the treee line dont , they look totally different in terms of smoothness , some are mixed with a grey/ Silver metal which is surprising Wally

Went for a quickie today. Im running out of crevices as i have cleaned most of the crevices out. We Need a flood up here. So i moved to the gravel bed and noticed a line of big rocks sweeping around the inside corner. I have been throwing this fine and loose sand away as overburden. Why would large gold be on top and fine gold underneath. :| any answers would be grateful as this doesnt make sense to what i been learning about gold. Thanks

You might find that the top layer of gold came from freshly disturbed ground further upstream. If the last flood was not enough to disturb the lower gravel but was carrying fresh gold then I guess it can only lay on top of previous deposits. It would be nice to find where it came from.
