I think We have set a new Australian Record (to be confirmed).... Sad and Devastating...
Why they are still allowing Tiled Roofs in QLD is beyond me... Even Metal roofs had Hail rip through them...

Some Hail...

And this is the inside of just one Home.... There's about 1800 of them just like this one...

The results... Every solar panel smashed and you cant buy a Tarp anywhere between Lismore and Rockhampton...
How much longer can the Insurance Industry cover things like this...

LW...

No Goody Not My house.. A house 3 doors away did get hit by Lightning .. We only got 30mm size Hail...

Worst thing is that as im typing this, The poor buggers are Copping another severe Storm in the same area......

A sign of the times Manpa... We are in a La Nina this Year, so that means More to come... Time to start building Underground... Or at least build the whole House out of Concrete....

Looks like Old Mate was out Fishing.... The Boat between the two Houses looks Undamaged...

LW....

Bloody heck!,,devastating...heart breaking to say the least...time for a re-think on the old tile viability I'say...noted that the canopy on the boat there remains intact...is that made of some poly-somethingo or?..maybe time for some type of poly-thingo additive to the clay tile..just think'n. :(

Must 'Protect' the Boat at all costs...

Problem is that Every Roofer and Roof Tiler is working at Rockhampton and Yeppoon after a severe storm hit them last year....

The Roofing Industry is getting pretty angry that No one is listening to them... They want to remove the tiles and install Metal, but the Insurance industry is saying 'just repair them like for like' ..... New roof tiles today are not worth it... Some are that weak they crack when you walk on them...

LW...

:argh: that is seriously nasty hail :8 if you need some tarps send me a pm

They should be Ok... For now RM..... I was told today that 3 B-Doubles arrived last night from down south full of Tarps and Tie-downs...

I know a few in the roofing industry... They have been getting up to $80p/h as well as Accom and meals paid in Rockhampton...

Guess Who is paying for that... Every person that has Insurance...

To 'restore' all those damaged roofs, they Must have Edge Protection installed first (OH&S Law)... And its all up north... It will take years to repair... :/ Rockhampton has been full on for 10 months now with companies saying they have at 2-3yrs work up there... So no hope for Springfield Lakes..

LW...

Have a look at the Damage Metal roofs suffered apart from a few dents... Except the Solar Panels.... Some Metal roofs are the White and Grey roofs in the foreground with a Tile roof next to them..

There are some wicked pics if you Google 'Springfield Lakes Storm Damage'... And some very deadly hail stones...

It's a same they don't build those roofs steeper so they get less of an impact,

At 11:30am it is 6*c here, another Balmy day in Paradise, LOL

That would add another 100k to the house price RR....

Problem is our Hail never falls straight down... :)

Nothing silly about the way We build over here... Yer Right...

Termite resistant wood and We have brand new homes eaten out in 6 months...

Iron roofs sheets aren't as thick as they use to be in the 60's and 70's and then the rafters started getting put wider apart, Roofs over here have 400mm centres as a rule and a lot steeper,

Back home we use to soak all our timbers in a mix of Creosote and Diesel, Do that every couple of years kept em at bay, With Posts we use to stand them in it over a couple of days and that helped stop them and helped to slow them rotting in the Ground, :Y:

I have also wondered at the reason for tiled roofs in queensland lone wolf ,and as you said the insurance company says put tile's back on the roof, that way they can keep putting premiums up by 10% to 15% a year

I replaced the tin roof here about 3 years ago ,with tin, the old roof had about about 80 years or more of storms and no claims as far as i know ,she had some funny shapes in it from that bad hail storm years ago LW ,the hail was about the same size as a soft ball, bloody big hail

We do not get flooded here but it makes no difference whether you make a claim or not
The cost of insurance is just about out of the reach of a lot of people here , i know some people in town that just can not afford home insurance ,it does not matter what group you go to the premiums are all with the $15 to $ 20 difference per year ,no price fixing here yea right
