I can't seem to find a NSW store who stocks White's detectors.

I've done a search on the forum with no results and I've searched for a store on White's site but still came up with nothing. Seems as if it doesn't recognize Australian postcodes?

I'm looking to buy a second hand SPP but would like to have a look at one and get a bit of an idea on how one works before I waste people's time organizing to have a look at a second hand one.

Any recommendations or ideas would be appreciated.

Call the Australian Whites dealer in Dunolly, Vic - I think you'll find that they're the only authorised distributors in Australia.

Karen, for the price of a 2nd hand machine, I'd just buy a new one if you can stretch out another little bit of $$$.

I'm sure Dean will do you a good price, as they were only 1200 bucks a few Months ago, and I don't think our dollar has dropped that much to equate to the extra 300 bucks he has on them now. Ask him throw in Free postage and a coil cover. There are a lot of cheap GP Minelabs ATM due to the fact people want to buy a Re-released GPX4500 in the next 2 weeks, so it's a buyers market.

But, even so, at least your getting a new machine that hasn't been tumbled in the back of someones 4wd.
Plus, Gold Search will give you some good advice how to use your machine.

Good luck

Hi Gold Diver,

Appreciate the info!

Would it be better if I waited the 2 weeks for the re-release of the GPX to phone them?

I "would" buy a new one and take the chance that I'd be able to manage it if I could get it for $1200.

I have just been through this same thought process. And let's forget 2nd hand vrs new for second.
I think for less than 1600 bucks (price of a new SPP) you could pick a GPExtreme, or GP3000 with accessories in the next 2 weeks while Minelab have this sale. Probably the better buy.
If you buy an SPP for gold (second hand) without extras you need to look at buying better coils and extra batteries, so your cost is now over your budget, and the same as a second hand GP.
Might even be a few cheap TDI Oz going in the next week which should have a few accessories which also would be great buying.
If you buy new SPP I would ask for free postage, so it doesn't matter using a local dealer.
Most dealers aren't taking trade-ins so that shows you the lower end detectors are copping a huge price reduction, and if dealers won't take trade-ins detectors will need to be sold on Gumtree etc.

Im not telling you not to buy one over the other, I'm just saying there a bargains to be had in your price range, The decision up to you.

The old saying goes;
"Buy it once, cry once"

A good example is below.
I'm not telling you to buy or sway you from what you want, But look at the extras you get with this machine.
Geez, I'm almost tempted to buy it myself.
That coil and extra battery pack would be over 500 bucks alone.

White's TDI Pro Oz Metal Detector on Gumtree http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/1086921139

Interesting info.

Just had a look at the TDI ad on gumtree and unfortunately it's wwaaayyy above my price range.

Good of you to share the link tho guys.

Sorry, didn't see that.

But I think that is a very reasonable price for what you get.

I think it's a bit heavier than the SPP, but the control box can be strapped to your chest or backpack, so the swinging shoulder is doing less work.

Goldsearch is the only place to get the Whites detectors, they may have some 2nd hand stuff there as well, I know they did when I got the SPP, maybe they would sell the loan unit they have for a cheaper price.

Well worth it, Peter will probably answer the phone but he is also good to chat with & knows his stuff.
From everything I have read about Goldsearch they have excellent customer service & always willing to help & thats exactly what it was like when I went there & the same when I have rang them, always helpful.

There is a white's detector shop in NSW the goldsearch website says there is one via their dealer page.
I don't really detect maybe i should if its going to be profitable.
