when I bought my mxt, it came with a bullseye pinpointer.
Thing is, it gives signals even when there is none to signal on, I have no idea at all on how or when to use it, is it even useful to me?

They're meant to be a pretty good pinpointer, especially for very small targets like nuggets. Here's the instructions - hopefully these will help:

You need to press and hold the button and turn it right up and then keep holding the button and then turn it down until the beeping or vibrating stops and at that point it is set to the maximum and that is all you do, Ok.
