First of all sorry if this is not the correct forum for my question but this is my first time on the forum.
I will be staying about a week in Waikerie South Australia. Can anyone tell me is there any where in that area that I might be able to perhaps find some
minerals/gems/fossils etc. I lived for a year 30 years ago and remember finding some tektites and geodes also some shark teeth down by the river.
Sorry if question a bit general but would love to have a look round between 'relative visiting'.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Terry2017 and welcome to the forum. I'm so glad you managed to live for a year ]:D but it does make me wonder what you did for the other 29? on a more serious note can you give a bit more info, as in fossicking means (e.g. pans/detect/sluice/specking etc). This will better help members to give the right feedback. SS.

Thanks SS. I'm afraid not much time for anything serious as I am only in Waikerie for less than a week but would love to know if there is anywhere of interest where I could have a bit of a look. Probably down on the river in the cliffs etc or just walking a bit of the bush for surface specimens . As I said I remember going somewhere local and we found a few tektites and small geodes lying on the surface. Perhaps I'm just trying to relive my amazing year in Waikerie!
We are hiring a car and driving up from Adelaide.
I hope the email is't too light weight for the forum readers.
Oh and your forum is a great read especially for someone from the UK where most of the great old mine spoil heaps etc are now five foot under motorways as hard core.
Thanks again.
