And of course it gets even better if you look at other parts of Australia only a bit more than 10,000 years ago - Bass Strait, Torres Strait, Port Phillip Bay did not exist. 50,000 or more years ago the first Australians could walk from Port Moresby to Hobart. This is almost certainly why there were no dingos or boomerangs in Tasmania when Europeans arrived (local indigenous people had been cut off from the mainland for at least 10,000 years, so were isolated before the dingo reached Australia and before the boomerang was invented).
