Nice one, looks a little tight though. Hope it brings you much luck.

 good point, Not much use having a good luck ring that is too tight, don't need any hard luck either. Will move it onto a smaller finger before I test it out on a lottery ticket today. :rainbow: :money:

The rock-baker above turned out to be a 1953 commemorative florin.

Decided to turn the detector on and see what was trapped in the others holes. A 1922 thrippy, another crusted up florin and old swimming belt buckle were the other surprises in the quick hunt time slot I had available.

Lots more targets there if you beat me to it.

Had another session on the rocks :playful:

I liberated the best part of half a century in coin numbers, spanning a over a century of history.

Another early florin is always welcome :money: :money:

Yesterdays commemorative florin cleaned up nicely, the other one will take some time to remove the 100 years of oxidisation

Nice florin! Haven't seen one of them. Looks like some kind of weird cross bred roo until you zoom in. We've had strangely nice weather down here in Tassie lately which is nice for a change but still waiting for a big winter storm to unearth some stuff on the beach.

A first for me Dave, though it was an English coin at first, had me confused until I saw the roo standing behind it. The coin celebrates the royal visit in 1954, hence the lion. This coin seems to be a bit thicker than most of my Florins and the strike is also slightly off centre.

The other florins have now been identified as 1922 and 1927 but they have donated some of their skin to the sea, so wont clean up as well. One of the 3ds has very fine detail and was born in 1920......others are yet to reveal their dates.

Can I ask what method you used to clean the florin? It looks magnificent!

By all means Towelly :perfect:

I use supermarket citric acid powder to lift the sea-scale off the coin. Then I finish a coin off with some bicarbonate soda, mixed with just enough water to make a paste, and a light finger rub.

I dont mix 92.5% silvers and 50% silvers. The photo shows the higher copper content coins on the right.

Some coins need multiple soakings

Swung by my local military camp for some 925 coins action and was rewarded, also scored a handful of practice rounds and a chopped down 40mm cannon shell.

The black powder ball was encouraging, not sure of the age of the button, medallion and harmonica but I do like the older surprises.
