Just gave it a clean with a brass burnishing brush and it has come up a treat. I have decided not to attempt straightening it out for fear that the thin metal will crack or at least ruin the years of weathering and accumulated character.
I think I will make a frame for it and mount it as it is, with an appropriate backdrop

and good move not straightening it.. folder cricket buckles end up breaking, even if annealed, due to corrosion/stress cracks on the bend line.
