I received my Walco Pick (No.1) this morning so I thought I'd share a few photo's for anyone wanting a closer look at it. In the hand it feels well balanced and high quality. Price was $85 from Gold Search Australia however they can be purchased from several outlets including Miners Den.

There is my old smaller version of the Walco pick up for grabs - its somewhere in Tuena Creek

Great picks , so I got another one. Smaller version has all metal handle

Nugget, you made a good choice. Had mine for just over 2 years now, handle cracked down near the head about 6 months ago, still rocking along.

I've always resorted to my good old trusty Garrett Pick (nice and lite) but I'm pretty confident the Walco will put it to shame, especially on the deep digs . With any luck I'll be taking out for a spin over the weekend.

I think the walco pick is one of the most handy tools I have I use it on work sites looking for leaks in pipes were you need to dig between pipes it gets in there as well as looking for gold even the wife uses it to plant flowers

Talking about the pick as a tool, Could those of you who use them tell me about the plug shovel that is used for coin plugs in parks [the one with the serrated edge] I see a lot of people using them but cant find anyone who actually advertises them for sale. Any help would be good. Thanks.

I'm looking around for a pick too.
I couldn't make out the name of one I used from a friend but recognize the Australian map sticker on yours.
Walco/CC Pick can't quite make my mind up. Prolly much of a muchness?
What made you go for this one Nug?

I ended up with an CC Ezy Dig, small Pick $83 at Aussie Detecting in Bendigo.
600mm handle. Nice & light to swing it all day but heavy enough cracking open crevices with ease.

Happy days

Sorry Ag, I didn't see your post until this evening. No real reason for choosing the Walco it was just a decision that had to be made. I've held a few CC Picks and see no difference in quality between the two brands. I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

I loved my CC pick, got it new when i bought my GP Extreme, unfortunately the pointy end broke right off :(

Yeah there good and so are others I've only used Walco. There's a forum sponsor who makes picks from all accounts there worth every cent.

What ever you choose make sure it's quality cheap and what seems like a bargain pick can shed shards/swarf off the pick when digging hard ground. The small pieces coming off cheap picks will have you digging target's that weren't there before you started digging :N:.

Absolutely the way to go, these things are bloody tough, I reckon I'll be handing mine down to future grandkids, can't say that about a lot of things these days.

I have owned 2 Walco picks. Worked really hard ground and they are TOUGH.

Epoxy a magnet on top and they are perfect
