Glad you got your priorities right isolation layful: my garden is starting to look good. House is Anouther thing though. I have also moved from a tropical to cold climate. Killed a few things but have been able to get avocados, ice cream beans and a Wampii through the worst of winter and frost. Mr magoo, I also like growing unusual things.

Yeah it's all a bit of a test at the moment. I'm also wondering how many beasties I'll have to contend with... Roos, wombats etc.

Like the old fridges isolation. Thats clever thinking. Saves a lot of work. How many years do you get out of them? Recycle and reuse at its best. Well done.

Mate I can't claim that idea as my own, I've seen them used a few places before.

We don't have garbage collection yet, but can tip at the tip for free. Saw the old fridge pile so grabbed a few. Pulled apart some pallets on site for the frames etc.
I reckon they'd last quite a few years. You could use them as a draining bed, or a wicking bed. I'm using one as a compost bin too.

Hi folks, just thought I would share a passion of mine since a seed sprouted in a pot some 40 years ago. It was a good Xmas tree and indoor plant for 10 yrs before being planted out when we moved into home.
Produces best every second year, but has produced 150 plus fruit in a season as good as this last one for this season (67 fruit, six lost to damage from falling from high up.

Got about 40 plants in and will plant a few more. About 30 cucumber plants, beans, caps, eggplant and of course chillies.
Been the slowest season I've ever had so far.

Hi Goldfreak, I prefer to use the grafted ones as they produce quickly and strongly. But this year i could not find any in the limited time I had. So i just got 4 seedlings.
All my tommies are started from seed.

Just an update on the Rhuem noble, the hot weather has forced a little new growth through so looking promising, also after a lot of searching finally found a north american pawpaw tree in Australia that happened to be within driving distance, it is not actually a paw paw at all. It is the only true temperate/cold climate member of the custard apple family, the latin name is asimina triloba. I think its the most tropical looking thing that can handle snow.

My patch is a bit over grown in places atm.
sometimes that's a good thing though (plenty for composting later).
There's a pumpkin vine going wild (by itself)

and down the back there, the chocolate pudding tree has lots of new little fruits on

nice little bunch of lady fingers down that way too

Strawberries are still producing

luckily they are standing up tall
any that touch the ground get taken by slugs
so the plants in all their wisdom have gone airial for me.... thos strawberry fruit can sit like this for weeks just getting sweeter and sweeter until I decide to pick em.

the herb garden is thriving

The hydro pinneapples are thirsty atm

I let them dry out a bit (accidentally) the other week.... and now they are soaking in water like nobody's buisiness

I'm still waiting patiently for my first ever hydro grown pineapple fruit to eat

The tomato plant is at its end
but I've put in a bit of other stuff a while back(celery just there)

the red onions are doing ok

the other bed is taking off a little

some of that corn is nearly ready

and there are some rockmellons coming on under the corn

the hoppers are in to them though

beans are mostly leaf

my potatoes have died down... not been dug yet... so still a mystery

lots of seed on my lettuce hedge though lol
