OK Everyone I've finally come up with an idea.

No more Trailer.

I have been living under a rock and just discovered these self inflating mattresses. Currently in the back of the ute I have got a king single mattress, it takes up a heap of room but its comfy. If i ditch the king single for one of these inflatables i can free up enough room to get in all of the fuel, water and beer. Because the inflatable is basically plastic wrapped foam it can fold in, over and around bits n pieces. The weight of the vehicle might be a bit heavy but I'll take it easy.

It was as if the heavens opened up and the answer was given to me hahaha

BACK IN THE GAME

THE RIG

39mm will have Holden bearings so dont be tempted to fit big tyres and rims as that de-rates the carrying capacity quite a bit.
I have a 6x4 trailer that I built to survive NT roads and it has a 50mm axle with parallel bearings, 10 drums, Aussie made springs
and runs 750r15 tyres. With a bit of maintenance it will last forever.
