Torn meniscus

Some how I have manage to tear my meniscus in my knee. Not the best thing to do. It wont help swinging a detector that is for sure. How I tore it, I do not know. I hope I do not end up needing to have my knee operated on. Has anyome else done this and how long was the recovery?

Tore mine about 4 years ago, bit of keyhole surgery and scraping.
Tender for a few months but hardly notice it now, occasional clicking but no real pain.

Generally keyhole, day surgery, up and about in two to three days. I’ve had it done five times. Inherited my dads knees, he ended up with absolutely no cartilages in his knees by the time he was 70.

Buy a pushbike and get some exercise happening
I’ve a dicky knee and swear by it, my step Dads the same as is one of his mates

Tore both of mine back in the early 2000s, never had them operated on, just live with the occasional clicks, main think I found was maintaining thigh strength helps stabalise. Previous knee injuries were the suspected causes, but they were 30 years preceding the tears. My menisci just popped when taking the dog for a walk in the morning, few months apart... weird

Tore mine pushing dirt into a big detector hole with the inside of my foot. It left me limping for about 6 months. Very painful. Walking down a slope or down steps was the worst. It took about 2 years to come good, but every now and then, it reminds me to pull the dirt back into the hole with my heel, not the the inside of my foot.

I had the same problem about 20 years ago. Did it herding cattle on foot. Had keyhole job and out the same day. No instructions given so I assumed it was OK to walk immediately. No further problems.

Yes mate ,i came a cropper in the sheep yards and badly damaged mine in left knee. The specialist Dr said if i was younger they could operate and prodaly do a good job but my old knee , about 65 then was past it. He gave anti inflamatories and said the only other option was a full knee replacement
I have slowly learned to live with it and can walk around for hours without difficulty. The only problem is it won't bend properly so have to just bend from the waist to dig a target.
I already have titanium hips and they work well but getting a new knee is far more problematic i believe Cheers. .

Tore mine about 4 months ago. Short period of rest and then daily stretches and keep walking gently. No stairs for a while too. Now mostly good and just have to remember to stretch calves and thighs before doing too much, especially hills.
