Hi. Wolfau. Mine was running 3.2. Because of back problems, I sold my GPX4000 to try this lighter machine trick. The Deus is without doubt my all time favorite machine to use. I can only afford one machine, otherwise I can assure you, I would still have it. But it is still VLF and generally speaking they will always struggle with noise, hot rocks etc. Even Steve says this in all his reviews re. VLF machines. I tried all settings and tested the Deus well in all modes. I always do this with all machines. When it comes down to it manufacturers are constantly tweaking VLFs to try to improve their gold finding ability, and its fair to say some have a certain amount of success with some of these tweaks. But as Steve H points out, we have very nearly come to the end of the tweaking possibilities of VLF technology. (the words...Clutching at straws come to mind here.) In the past year I've had a CTX 3030...A Deus....A Fors Gold...A MXT Pro... A Technetics T2 ES... and before all of that A Garret AT Gold. They are all slightly different in their approach and features and ease of use, But for finding Gold,? My old GPX 4000 Leaves every one of them in the dust. If you can only afford one machine and want to have a go at all goodies then yes, A VLF is probably the best way to go. Although a Whites SPP with conductivity switch can and does discriminate reasonably well, and it's PI.And it's cheap. But if it's Gold you want PI PI PI. My greatest regret is selling my 4000. Found a lot of gold with that. Hundreds of bits. How many have I found with all the above VLFs................................(admittedly I don't go out nearly as much now) But How Many????...............NOT EVEN 1. And this from a guy that never once came back without at least one nugget every time I went out with my GPX4000. having said all that I wish you heaps of luck with your Deus...I wish I still had mine....Regards.....Ronnie.
