Woke up a bit later than planned, looked out the window and it was sunny. OK I'm going high banking.

Thought I'd make myself and the missus a coffee and some breakfast, walked out to the kitchen/dining area and noticed my aquarium canister filter was making a bit of noise, figured it just had an air pocket.......coffee first!

Hang on a sec that's making a bit too much noise, so I walked over to see the 195L tank drained! Thankfully no expensive fish were lost and there was still just enough water in it for the small native blue eyes and gudgeons, that live in harmony with four Cherax cainii Western Australian electric blue marron I keep in it. Those marron sure would have been a pain to replace.

Lucky for me the aquarium was only purchased in October and still under warranty, the glass in the base had cracked the whole length of the tank! Never seen it happen before, the glass is quite thick. Now to just juggle where these marron are going to live for now and clean up the mess!

Wow that sucks, hopefully no problem with warranty. That looks like one tasty morsel you have there :D

Nah no high banking today I don't think, way too much mess to clean up! always tomorrow

They sure would have made a nice breakfast on toast with some garlic butter! But they have been named by my kid, so just can't do it! Bugger to replace too, a mate in Newcastle orders them live from True Blue Marron in WA and he only orders about $500 worth at a time.

Should be no issue with warranty. They are all happy back in 4 separate glass terrarium bowls that hold about 10L or so in case they fight in close quarters (although they have got on well together for about 2 years. I piggybacked some smaller filters to each bowl so they will be fine for a while in them. Tossed the native fish in another 75L aquarium with fantail goldfish so they are fine.

I stayed at a unit in Bright Vic. once and happened to catch a few Yabbies in the backyard creek. 1 got away overnight and never found him/her. I wonder if the next visitors found it--PHEW!!

I had a everyday common yabby, "Cherax destructor" crawl out of his tank one time, fall from the bench the tank was on to the tiled floor and go hide behind the TV.

Found him the next morning after he had been out of water overnight, he was blowing water bubbles and was a bit dusty but was otherwise unharmed.

That was 2 years ago, he's named "Dozer" and is about 22cm long now, really nice blue but not the same blue as the marron. If I put them in with him they would last about an hour before they were a mess at the bottom of the tank.
