nice finds buddy! They should clean up well and i imagine you were pretty thrilled with the 1914 three pence, makes it 100 years old. A well rewarded venture i think. The real reward are the silvers there and peace of mind that you dont have to deal with the junk there again

That's it mate, no more rubbish(in that spot anyway),...only hope I'm not being mean to other hunters by taking the old glass away off the surface and removing the hints that give it away as a prime hunting spot(ha).

Good to show your junk Silver, it helps members realise that these older coins aren't the easiest to find, and how much effort goes into a search. A lot of people who get into the hobby think these coins simply jump out of the ground with very little effort or patience involved, not so I'm afraid. ;)

Try following the shade if there is any about, as all the beach goers will be doing the same in the heat of summer,...Take a look when it's busy and keep a reference in your mind for when it's quieter times to have a look. All will be revealed and then you will get your battery money coming in.

I tried firstly next to the golf course down low near the water line got 50c first then walked along the beach and hit targets almost every couple of meters but was all junk then decided to try the main beach after a few hours of that, wasn't really sure where to start on the main beach so I started down low not a single target so I gave up and started heading back to the car, decided I'd try up high on the flatter section where it's more likely people sit and hit the 25c then a nice big sinker and a steel fishing rod holder, at this rate it will take a while to pay off the 705 but sure beats sitting at home, so far my total is about $5 most of which came from my backyard lol

Went out today in the heat and found two coins at an old spot of mine.
First all that rubbish that comes with the finds.
1416309552_sam_6038.jpg

lets delve into it a bit for the connoisseur,...shall we.
first up we have the glass and the iron targets.
1416309720_sam_6035.jpg

then the aluminium,...note the two tarp islets that tell us someone camped here after the brass islet era.
1416309804_sam_6036.jpg

next up is the copper, with an old lamp wick winder in the centre and enough bits and pieces to build up the lamp above the glass base(missing)
1416309922_sam_6037.jpg

Now for the lead and the projectiles,...note the 22 short cartridge for size reference(found that there as well)
1416310087_sam_6034.jpg

now for the battery money,...one only $2.00 coin(1993).
1416310249_sam_6040.jpg

1416310278_sam_6039.jpg

And a nice old Chinese coin(find of the day) may in fact be from the Chai-Ching Dynasty 1776-1820 ad (might call it the Chinese G-20 coin)
1416310571_sam_6041.jpg

1416310606_sam_6042.jpg

I was certainly glad to get back to the car and aircon,...strait over to old mates place to gloat of the G-20.

That sure is a lot of junk, you've got a lot more patience than me. At least you got one good find for your efforts, can't say I have found a chinese coin yet. :)

Update on the Chinese coin, Mrs Silver looked it over under the loupe and says it's a Kang-h si 1662-1722.

Old Chinese market gardens about one klick away TM, Ive found a few in a one klick radius over the years.

what do you think the Kang-H coin was doing there bud?

If I collect all the junk from local parks, I would have to drag a trailer behind me. I pick up only junk that gives coin signals.
Karl

Hi Karl If I wasn't picking up all the junk I mighta missed these two yesterday.
1956 sixpence.

1416524649_sam_6080.jpg

1922 threepence.
1416524681_sam_6081.jpg

1416524708_sam_6082.jpg

Actually I missed them a long time ago when I was using my underwater detector above ground,....I decided to go over a bit of old ground to see what I missed in the early days and wouldn't you know it,..there they were, not even very deep either. I did get a few other insignificant coins that I gave away to some kids at the dental surgery, but they don't count as I don't have a photo of the coins. I was actually looking for threepences in the first place,...and at least I found one.
Just thought I'd delve deeper for all you coin buffs and photograph the 22 so you can all be sure for yourselves.

Been trying to find a reference to it ... Not exactly sure where or what im looking for ....
Cant find anything :/

not a bad morning out silver. Only takes one find to make it all worth while. In your case the mystery medallion :)

That's the one that was given to all the school children to celebrate victory in the south pacific(date unsure,..but during the second world war sometime).,

I've found a few of these over time TM, this one just happens to be a sad photo(quality wise) and has no ring to hang it from anymore.
