Found this little feller when i decided to pick up an interesting rock in tarnegulla. Im glad it stayed on the ground and not on the rock i picked up. It seemed fairly aggressive towards the phone when i took the photo so im sure they wouldn't hesitate to sting ya

Here's mine hippyhunter. Not too far from Tarnagulla either. Got a signal and lifted the rock.

They're all great pics people. I love that close-up one of the ant taking home the spider for dinner. It's great to know some critters have got my back! Having said that, not all ants are our allies either. I remember well as a teenager, exploring the sand dunes of the back beach along Cape Schanck Vic with my cousins in the 70's. My youngest cousin sat down for a rest on a sand dune, and he got bitten on the backside by a huge dark blue/black colored Bull ant. He let out the most agonizing scream and balled his eyes out in pain.

So, what is the one that you said was something else in the preceding years Nightjar? Is it the remains of a native Mia Mia or something? I guess if you needed some shelter it would be easy enough to just throw a tarp over it and kip down underneath.

Nice one hardluck. They are definately either different breeds or male and female. I could spot a couple of differences such as yours looks a little slimmer and longer. My one looked wider and had two distinct rows of humps along the back wheras your pick the back looks flat. Wonder if different breed or different sex. Because of the close proximity i will guess male vs female.
I will watch out more for them.next time i go to tarnegulla. Hahaha.

I still can't figure out what I'm looking at there Capertree??? Is it a Yowie in a Ghillie suit? :D

There is a black cat in the middle of the screen, going behind a tree. Puma??

Oh, now I see it. I know they've been here a while but not quite long enough to call Native ;)

I bet RM picked it up in a flash, people who hunt look at things in a different way, you just seem to notice so much more.

I'm amazed that with Foxes and all the feral cats that we have in Australia, that we still have such a diverse variety of Lizards. :Y:

I dug this little guy out from about 400mm down in the creek gravel.

The creek was dry from end to end but the gravel a that depth was still damp.

I wasn't game to bury him again so I put him back in the hole and just threw a light layer of gravel over him and left the hole open.

Did the frog give off a target signal Moneybox??

I dug one up some time ago, expected a piece of gold...always wondered about the signal.

They must breed like flies because the snakes get fat on them too... It's the poor old snake that gets wacked on the head too often by the over excited human population invading their territory.

No, on this occasion I think I dug an aluminium can lid with a message to the previous owner that was ignored...
