Hey FK have you shown us the HB ya built and has it found any gold yet. Im 47 and still have a clay head and Ned Kelly mask I made in Year 7/8 back in 79/80. Also an abstract painting I did in Year 10 (82) hangs in the loungeroom after a lifetime in the old mans garage.

Hahaha yea well there was either copper to put on the sculpture or gold and I looked at everyone's sculpture and they all had copper and no gold so I decided to for the gold. I reckon it looks pretty good. Paydirt That sounds pretty good it probably even looks good aswell. I'll have to send you a pic of the HB soon aswell. :)

Well not quite today but monday i went to a mates workshop and he helped me make a dolly pot for crushing rocks.

And as you can see ive been to Bunnings to get some shiny new bowls. Also cut up a 200 litre plastic drum to pan into (right size, right height for my chair). :)

cool looking setup there yobskin, I'm lovin' some of the ideas being made in this thread, not long until I have a go at making a recirculating highbanker for home to save hours of panning out cons

I put my cons through again and didnt find any colour...
So it gets it all 1st go...700mm x 100mm 3mm fine ripple mat
$2.00. Lay it nearly level saved me hrs seriously.

The prices that they charge for the picks in the prospecting shops are too steep for my liking. I was lucky and had a good pick thrown in as part of the many sweeteners when I purchased my 5000 a while back. The only thing I had to buy to make the small pick above was the handle, as the blade was made from an old plough disk - being good steel.

Cheers

Well let me know if you come across something suitable for " man's pick" and would love to own one. Seriously. :)

Gooday all,
Spent some down time in the shed today and made myself a sand scoop/shovel out of a stainless steel muffler I had laying around off a previous car I owned. Just had to cut it in half and deguts it and add a stainless handle and plastic conduit T for the end and there you have it, a cheap digger for beach hunting to add to the tool kit.
Havn't tried it yet, but I reckon it will work..... maybe. :/

Today I made a bucket classifier!
Was planning on using the biggest buckets I could find and doing it the way I have seen in some youtube clips (inserting metal mesh in the bottom) but I wanted a bucket with a lid so I could take pay dirt home with me ..... Only buckets with lids in Bunnings were much smaller BUT I found a storage caddy thing with a handle that fits perfectly! Was ment to be it seems. Have spent the afternoon drilling holes and listening to music. :D
I have also realised that if I had of bought a massive bucket it would have probably been too heavy for me to carry home (via public transport and lots of walking) when it is full of pay dirt.
I even tested it out with backyard dirt/rocks :8

Will give it a proper test and possibly add more holes. Just dont want to weaken it too much. Cant wait to get out panning again!

This last image is to show the labels in case anyone else wants to do the same. The 'cleaning caddy' was $4 and the bucket was $9.95
