Hey wishfull. Nice work mate :Y:
I have been thinking of doing something similar in my yard. But my concern is won't it fill with water when it rains? Or do you have some sort of drainage in the base?
Yeah have wondered about that but I think the dirt in that area will allow it to drain ok. Besides it can only go up to the second coarse LOL :p

Make a domed top frame from some flat steel and put some steel flyscreen on it wishfull,if the flames have died down i don't think it would worry the flysceen to much, you can make the lid as low or high as you want, 'it can sit on the top of the brickwork or you can make a angle iron base to weld the top to to make it a neat fit

Yep and some spuds in foil or maybe a nice stew in the camp oven.
Might be a while. People still pretty jittery about fires understandably.
My mate asked me what the holes were for. I said to let the air and the mice in. :D

Wishfull, I've been on the lookout for some light mesh to make a small portable trommel. I visited CueBunno the other day and somebody had donated a large range of very large air-cleaners. This is a short one but some are about 800mm long and 400mm diameter. 400 straightened out will be over 1200 wide. Perhaps one of these would be suitable to cover your fire?

Yes that's the kind of mesh I was thinking about.
Is that out of one of those big dump trucks in the mines ?

Things have been crazy in my life - I feel like I'm going a little insane. I'm tired, sore and ready to retire. Only another 17 years.

I've had a couple more flight suit sessions with my tailor, he doing the skilled sewing machine stuff and I doing the grunt work, cutting and gluing stuff for him to sew on. The right leg thigh pocket was a bit of a mongrel. We had four attempts at it to get it right. Finally, that one is out of the way.

The last bits of padded and covered plates are glued up and top-stitched onto the back. The photo looks skewiff because I've just draped it over my shoulders and am holding the sides in with my elbows. Trust me, it's symmetrical and the right size.

We also made a good start on the flak vest. The neoprene plates have been backed and stiffened, then covered with pigskin suede. This is what was used in the show.

Finally, I have been squeezing in an hour here and an hour there, (most of that time is eaten up by dragging tools and power outside then packing it all up when finished.) on the new hangar/workshop. Today I got the last of the big bolts drilled and fastened. A few more tech screws in engineer specified places and the sheeting is ready to go on.
