Cannons finished and given some protection while they wait for the rest of the ship to be completed.

Some pics showing various parts of the three footer at different stages. Because I am using a variety of scrap material and fillers, the sanded finish is difficult to get consistent. Some of it sands very easily, leaving convex depressions in the surface, while the harder materials leave lumps and bumps. To try to solve this, I'm sealing the parts with a lacquer, akin to resin hardening. At least after a few coats of that, I can apply a single putty, then sand it down to the hardened surface.

Today I made a little recirculating clean up sluice out of bits I hadnt used for a while. I had everything except the battery. I got a cheapie from super cheap thats got 18 month warranty. I ran some concentrates from last weekend and I also cleaned out my pond in the front yard. I usually pan into it so I ran all of the cons from there as well. I need some more practise because there was about .3 of a gram in there. The Angus McKirk is a very efficient sluice as it caught the finest flour gold I have seen. Ive got the gold in some Albright atm so Ill post a pic of that later. Below is my panning pond. My wife just rolls her eyes when she sees me panning into it

Today we finished the first part of our gelsoft course.

Restored an old pocket knife. New burl scales, ground off that horrible, gimmicky, serrated edge and sanded all surfaces to remove dents and scratches. Finished off by regrinding a new edge geometry.

How about a custom backpack thar fits sliuce, pans, pick and shovel, crevicing tools, wrecking bar, FAK, food and water? Everything on the outside so you don't have to dig under gear to find something?
