The Lithium battery 400 A/H came from EV Power in Western Australia, it's a 4 cell 12 volt battery, each cell 3.2-3.3v .

Slowflow, these batteries are only 60 kgs in weight which is great for caravaner's.

An old caravan. Done a LOT of camping. Never owned a Van.
As our big tent has started to fall apart from age and use we decided to upgrade.
Tho I'm not sure this old girl is much of an upgrade. A fixer upper.
Not exactly what we were looking for but too good a bargain to let pass.
$900. No rego but has an awning. Not bad me thinks.

thats very cheap and not that old either

the usual checks ;

strip and grease the wheel bearings or replace them if they have any rust inside them

check any gas hoses for leaks or replace with new

check for rust in the steel drawbar all the way back to where its welded to the caravan chassis

drain and flush water tanks , do a visual check for mould spots inside them

check the locking clips so the poptop cant pop open and rip the canvas while driving.

put a voltmeter on the lighting / power cables and check for short circuits anywhere

add a modern RCD or ELCB to the 240 volt circuit to prevent electrocution in wet conditions

if it has an inverter , check there is a modern circuit breaker on the batteries to prevent fire in case of a short circuit

give it a treatment to get rid of cockroaches , fleas , tics or bedbugs

ummm . i think thats it

oh yeah another one , get out and have a ball :)

Headsup.
Thanks, had most of those things on my to do list.
She towed home OK. Stopped a couple times to check bearings were not getting hot and nothing falling off.

Ag Man. Yes a little to do. A 77 model so nothing is as it once was :) window rubbers perished, fly screens torn etc.
The guy we got it off has mostly refitted it. New cupboards and mostly rewired. 240v PowerPoint's and 12v lights with a rectifier from 240. All the electrics will be checked over by a qualified leco. Electrickery is black magic to me :8 . not really... I'll do any thing 12v. But the high voltage I leave to the experts.

With what he has done it gives us plenty of scope to make it how we will use it.

But... 2 new tires and rego and we can use it as it is. As I said we have done a lot of camping so have all the bits n pieces we need to be comfy.

Yes mate, that is why this "restoration project" will take a long long long time...

On another point.. Picked this up yesterday.. guess what this is going to be used for?
