We also had the pleasure of being invited to join Yobskin and the rest of the Gympie guys in the creek there. It's great to be able to visit a new area a long way from home and be welcomed by the locals. I guess they knew we weren't likely to take much of their gold anyway
A couple a weeks back I got a call from a local guy in APLA. He has a Hema HN7 like mine but like all new Hema navigators he missed out on the decent Aussie 250k maps. Today I got the chance to take a 40 km drive up his way with my laptop and Hema in hand. We struggled for a couple of hours unsuccessfully to install my 250k maps into his device.
Doing so I got to meet a great couple and share lunch at their house. In the end I headed home with his Hema so that I could try to work it out at home. The problem is that we are both a bit long in the tooth to be mucking around with computers and electronics. The Hema comes with all the info to swap maps back and forth but i couldn't get to work for me so I went back to basics. I just opened up one window showing the Hema files and another showing the Hema maps on my laptop and slid them across. It worked...
Now I just have to work out how to get his GPS back home but it feels good to give a fellow prospector a little helping hand.
