Sorry to hear about your job loss mate.

My vent.......if I ever meet Jimmy BLOODY Giggle, I'm gonna knock his teeth out! (not really)

JeffP, it is shame you were not offered the opportunity to be the Contractor your ex-employer took on. At least that way you could get some income again.
Being a Contractor though, has it's own difficulties including the need of insurances & Licences, some of which have a requirement for you to engage in "Continuing Personal Development" the costs of which may be Tax Deductable but you have to pay for them first & earn the extra costs to pay for them.
There are some benefits too, of course, which include Tax deductibility of tools, a vehicle, etc. & the alleged ability to take time off when you want. This can prove to be a fallacy because (in my experience) you have work at every opportunity to cover costs of times when income isn't incoming & having to wait 28, 30, 90, 120 days before you get paid.
Even Government employees have to re-apply for their jobs on a regular basis, that eliminates problems with Unfair Dismissal laws. If your contract time has run out & the employer no longer needs (or wants) you, he can remove you from his books with the least difficulty.
Contractors & Sub-Contractors run into problems of their own with finance. Suddenly all your loans become what the Banks call "No Doc" which means they can make the application process more strict & (possibly) increase Interest rates because of a perceived lack of security with your employment.
That is enough of this vent. I now work for wages & am better off than I have been for some time.
Good luck to you!

Hey JeffP
A follow up from my earlier comments. Try and write down a record of what went on at time of sacking, and after. More info the better. Don't worry if ex boss starts making adverse comments, Fair Work won't listen unless he had record of events in which case you should have been given a copy of any performance review.
Fair Work inspectors are not idiots and quickly separate the bull!!! from the facts.
Don't give up on pursuing back pay, super, redundancy pay etc, it's yours not his.
By the way I was an employer for most of my working like and we need these bad apples removed.
All the best.

Bob , I have been keeping a diary of what was said . Like yesterday , I had seen a Doctor about my elbow which I injured at work ,, I continued working with injury and had NO intention of going for Compo . Anyway , Dr starts mentioning "Specialists" we all know that means big money . So I ring the Boss to discuss this and all was going well until the under payment of wages was mentioned ,then he goes off his head saying " Go ya f%^&*ing hardest mate , I will tell them (insurance company) that it was a pre existing injury , so go ya hardest! " It just goes to show what sort of person he is and has been all along . I didnt want weekly compo , just wanted the insurance company to pay for the Specialists !

He hasn't realised yet that it doesn't matter what he tells people. To me it sounds like he successfully pressured you to work with an injury then layed you off unfairly.

Yep me too.... Telstra still owe me 50 bucks I couldn't use cause their modern wouldn't work....... I won't ever use them again.... In fact it will end up costing them a lot more than $50 when I'm done with them!!!!!!!

Waited for 90mins last night with no one answering. Today so far it's 75mins. I'm holding out tonight and someone is going to hear about it. Flipping out of control terds. If I ran my business like this I'd be broke in a month.

$5000!.... I would have just laughed at them then changed services and not paid one cent.. Not even the correct amount. Let them chase me around and waste their time ...... They wasted plenty of mine!

Cmon guys Telstra are very good. Just give em a chance.
hmmmm....... wonder how my Telstra shares are doing

Haha they had 3 chances already.... And no one gets four from me :D..... Come to think of it no one gets two from me

I am guessing you are all using the Telstra supplied modems? Apparently part of the issue is they released a dodgey firmware update! I can not even log into the admin console of my modem anymore...

If you have a spare ADSL 2 modem laying around, just use it instead. Luckily I had a couple laying around. You do not have to use the Telstra ones to get online.

Quote, "And thanks dwt you're spot on, my mate Yobs has a bad back but loves his prospecting, and the rocker is best for his back, no matter how nasty people talk about us, it's water off a ducks back" End quote,
Now this quote was taken from the section under Rockin Yobskin yeehaaa, I visited this section just before to see how everything panned out after Myzama had a dummy spit at yobskin, but alas I couldn't find my posts, they have been removed!,
According to forum rules moderators can remove posts if they are seen to be unfit for the forum, fine fair enough, I've had posts yanked before and never had anything to say about it, but this situation like another where mbasko and creekbed were having a little verbal duel (and if I can find the thread I'll post it here) there was some moderating done to those pages as well, in that instance creekbeds post wasn't removed, it had just a few lines removed, I know this because from reading the section at 5am in the morning, and then logging on after 8pm that night creekbeds post had changed, not removed, just a line or two taken out, which I might add after rereading the topic again made poor old mbasko out to be the "not playing nice in the school yard kid!"
SO MY POINT BEING!, if some sections, posts, threads are going to be moderated (have comments, posts removed) then how about we do it thoroughly, I don't think it's fair to one forum member to have his posts left the way they were and another forum members changed, when you go back through the thread half the ***** makes no sense at all, and to be quite honest it's bloody frustrating, especially when you log in to read a thread and A: it's been fully removed B: random words lines or quotes have been removed, and finally C: nothing to say what has been changed or moderated.
MODERATORS, don't get me wrong guys you do a f###ing bang up job, thankless, and time consuming I could only have at a guess, so I would like to make a simple suggestion, that maybe, if you mod's wouldn't mind thinking about this idea, if you guys/gals :| could perhaps put a post saying that you have modded out words, lines, quotes or posts, just to let us know why the thread we are reading (after being moderated) makes no fricking sense!!!
:D

Hope I don't get sent on a walk about!!! 8.(
PS, I thought this to be the best for this post, Members only,

VENTED :(

After all this time it still goes on. :argh:

Telstra may have a few issues, but try moving around WA goldfields without a Telstra account, ie: If you want to use your mobile, or don't have a satellite phone.
