Hey, not only beer!

"red wine actually increased the abundance of bacteria known to promote gut health and decreased the number of harmful gut bacteria like Clostridium. The beneficial effect of moderate red wine consumption on gut bacteria appears to be due to its polyphenol content".

Of course things like liver damage and gastro-intestinal cancer can upset that a bit.................

I am a regular contributor to whinge of the day, but I thought to balance things out I would put up a post for good news.
To start things off, my wife Gina went for her six months cancer check up first thing today. It is 7 years since she underwent a stem cell transplant and experimental chemotherapy with the drug Thalidomide for what was generally regarded as incurable Myeloma (Bone marrow cancer).
The good news is that her blood tests now show no signs of the cancer. As this is the third time this has happened in a row, the specialist said that he would be happy to use the words “Complete remission” to describe her condition now.
I would have to say that is good news, actually great news as she will be able to dig my holes for me for a long time yet.

That is seriously good news... always good when you don't have to dig your own gold filled holes. 🤣

Stem Cell therapy was a subject I did some direct research on 17yrs ago, a promising field then, and used back then.
Very happy to hear this has worked well for your wife and she has a new lease on life. I sense for you too.

That’s definitely a good news day story Geoff and I know how joyous it is when you get a positive result after those checkups, as I have found with my own dealings with the big C.
No doubt you’ll celebrate with some of that single malt tonight.

As this thread is for good news announcements....
My youngest daughter (26) and her partner closed the deal today on their first home purchase after being on the rental merry go round for a few years.
To say I am happy for them, (and relieved) is an understatement as I know how difficult it is for the current generation to get a foot in the property market at present.
Celebrating with a coupla Tooheys

I finally figured out how to stack my knives well in my dishwasher cutlery tray. Only took 5 years.

Storing lengthways meant they slid out of their spot. They were too long to store horizontally. Diagonal was the winner!

A good news day indeed

Great news:
BRIDLE TRACK REOPENS
Great news - the Bridle Track has officially reopened today.

The Bridle Track is a much loved 4WD route connecting Bathurst to Hill End.

Rockslides made the original road impassable and a new two-kilometre diversion has been constructed around Monaghan’s Bluff.

The Bridle Track is popular for 4WD, motorbikes, camping, fishing and seeing some of the most spectacular flora and fauna in the area.
Can't wait to take the kids thru there.
I remember doing it as a kid with the family & a few other cars in convoy.
They were all 2wd vehicles 😯

Aussie boy's $20,000 find buried at popular beach

A "very excited" young boy was able to dig up a man's prized $20,000 watch that he lost at a popular Sydney beach on Tuesday.

Josh Shave, 10, went hunting for the valuable Cartier Santos watch at Balmoral Beach with his father Simon, when the stressed 79-year-old man couldn't find it in his shorts pocket after going for his usual morning swim.

“Dad was in a real state and very upset,” the man's son, Justin, told the Mosman Collective. “He returned to the car after his swim, and when he went to put his watch on, it wasn’t there.
He parks in the same spot and swims in the same spot every day, but even after retracing his steps, it couldn’t be found.

The 1975 watch bought in France holds great sentimental value for the man, being one of his "most treasured possessions".

How did the boy find the Cartier watch?

Luckily, they were connected with the right people for the job — Josh's family, who regularly look for lost things in the area. His mum Meggan Brummer then sent her son and husband out to find the treasure trove reportedly worth $18,000 to $20,000.

“Simon and Josh went down to Balmoral after school finished, armed with a metal detector and a small shovel,” Ms Brummer told Mosman Collective.

She said they weren’t too hopeful, given the watch was so valuable and had been missing for the entire day.
Expecting to be at the popular swimming spot all day, it was not long before the boy's metal detector started vibrating near the steps leading down to the beach at about 5.20pm.

“As soon as I saw it, I became very excited – I knew I would be able to make the sad man happy again," he told the publication. "It is the most expensive thing I have ever found.”

Being extremely thankful for the boy's kind act, the man reportedly gave Josh some pocket money.

Saw the story with the kid madly waving the thing and thought so, where is the metal detector? it's a bit like the ad with the bloke playing the trombone in a heavy metal band, "maybe we all should all get trombones?' or whatever he is waving around. Nice find kid. Mackka

@Mackka ,what i was more impressed with is that he found it with a cheap, internet bought detector that usually goes for less than AU$150. A few FB pages i follow, members are crucified for having cheap gear and this kids (supposedly) found a big value item with one. Good lesson I'd say.
As for the trombone, I'm sure that's an ad offering free shipping via amazon lol
