Is it common practice for people run their detector over the nest just incase they collected heaps of shiny gold.
Sounds like a good idea if they are common around any gold fields.

I've got a pair of bower birds visit my place on the scrounge just about every day and they just can't resist picking the flower buds off the lemon tree. In an attempt to dissuade them from doing so, I have scattered various shiny objects around, but the buggers wont touch them. They also like the cherry tomatoes, ripe or not.

I remove the blue platsic especially the
round rings off plastic bottle tops.
