T handle split pin

Found this split pin at a ww2 training camp. Definitely not for a grenade, any ideas?

Best guess would be a hitch or maybe as AF said a release for something.
Maybe from gear attached to a vehicle?

Found out its from a ww1 h3 303 ammo box

Hello! Im new here. I registered just to let you know that the split pin with t handle is for a 303 ammunition box. These were used right through WWII to keep the lid from sliding open.
