I woke up this morning to find our 10 year old Cavalier, Lily, going through final stage heart failure. To see the fear and begging of help in a human's or pet's eyes is truly heart rending. There was nothing to do but wake up Bridget and deliver the bad news. Lily is quite literally her child and it just tore me up. We took Lily down after waking up the Vet for one final injection. I now must dig a hole that promises to hold no joy at the bottom of.
Very ironic that Makka made a wonderful post about suffering. Many of us have been through this particular pain. Loving a pet is worth it every day, even though we know what will eventually come at the end of their short journey with us through our lives.
My pain is now shared, it will now hurt me much less once it is let out.
Thank You to my P A Family.

Very sad to hear mate. Always loved having a chat to Lily and giving her pat when I visited. Condolences to you and Bridget. Casey will be very sad to hear the news as she was looking forward to meeting her. 8.(

I am so sorry to hear about Lily, Patrick, and I fully understand your wife's love for her baby and the heartbreak that you both are now suffering.
Lots of Love.

Feeling your pain fella .................. just went and gave my bloke a hug. Not a day I don't walk past my previous mates and give them a thought also. Very sad day for you both indeed 8.(

Hallo Patrick & Bridget, So sorry to hear about your Lily, I can feel the pain with you as our Staffi Bindi is also our child. We are thinking of you at this sad time. Hermann.

Lily was a beautiful dog RIP Lily I remember meeting Lily on the Melbourne Cup meet a few years back condolences to you and Bridget.

Patrick, sorry for your loss mate. Unfortunately attachment to our furry friends is all too brief, sometimes I wish they had our lifespans so we didnt have to make that dreaded trip to the vet so often..... I have had to do it 5 times now and it never gets any easier, but in saying that, I wish I had the same choice as them when it is my turn to move on. It is such a humane way to go.
Here is a pic of my current buddy, Fergus, just on 2 years old. He will be my last dog and Im hoping I dont have to make that trip again.

My condolences mate, it's so damn hard saying goodbye to our little mates. It's unfair that we only get such a short time with them but as the quote goes "The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long." Hope you can make the jump to find a new travelling partner soon.
I have 2 little guys from the same litter, Shih Tzu x Cavalier, never knew I could be so devoted to the two little buggers.

Hi Pat, I still remember Lily barking at me when I had the privilege to meet her a few months back, reading this news makes me sad as well mate as I actually like dogs more than people, my 2 lil Jack Russells ARE my kids, your pain is felt and shared, it's hard saying goodbye to a mate that loves you unconditionally like a faithful dog does.

Take care!

We all share your pain pat . If you are a dog lover you can count on getting your heart broken at least 5 times in you life. But gezz they are worth it.
Jim
