well it was a sad day for me today had to let go of my ctx3030 and the last week i just realised how powerful this thing really is i went on beach and took all iron masking off and just listened to the sounds and i was finding $2 coins in with 7 peices of small iron it was incredible .but the reason i sold it wasnt because of the machines capabilities but rather its weight i go metal detecting with about 4 other people and they have all sold thier ctx because of the same reason .we are all pretty fit guys in our 40s and i would find my arm just aching after about 30mins of use god help older guys who dont train 5 days a week because i couldnt see them being able to swing this machine to be honest .

minelab really got it right with everything else on this machine i can see it beating most treasure detectors on the market but the weight was just to much to bare.if minelab release a ctx4040 and bring the weight down it will be very tough for any competator to beat .
i currently have a xp deus on the way so lets hope this thing has at least some of the capabilities the ctx had and my friend currently has one and is doing well on the beaches with it finding very small gold and jewellry .i think they must of fixed up the kinks when people were saying the deus struggled in australian conditions cause it seems like a pretty stable unit when put under pressure .

Classy response there mate. Way to embarrass a fellow forum member. Great contribution

It''s ok I have deleted the offending post-Jaros

Thaitran, sorry to see that the weight is an issue. There are some lighter machines out there, they just may not have the performance that you expect from the CTX.

Ignore the above response, it is the sort of response that we should be trying to eliminate.

hey guys i just came back .didnt even see what he wrote .what did the guy say?.i got a deus the other day and i gotta say it is alot better than the ctx3030 i found $90 in coins in 3 differant parks i had smashed with the ctx3030 .i noticed that the ctx3030 has a very slow reset after you run over iron or trash so you can run over a coin close by and the ctx will miss it and i realised this when i took my mates ctx out and my deus he would run over iron with a coin and not get a sound then id run over it and it would ping real loud .lets just say my mate is selling his ctx and getting a deus now :).

thx guys for sticking up for forum members this is why i like this forum cause everyone gets along .

Yes the ctx gets heavy, I am near 60 and I swing the ctx for hrs
I swap arms, lol to even out me arm muscle, me left hand swing is getting better.
but I find after I can identify my target area, then the ctx come in to it own
as I spend a lot of time identify them targets in that area.
Look at it this way, doing the thing you love and getting free exercise with it
I keep my ctx.

This is a good example I detected with the ctx,
The little copper stud in cast iron,
It was down deep and only 1 ping,
from all my passovers from all directions
It took a while for me to get a dig signal,
But once I was able to target that stud
the signal was clear.

very nice work :).i must admit im still a bit new to detecting .the ctx is still a great machine.i just cant get over thier deus i smashed a park so many times that i was to exhausted to do anything after with my ctx went back there today and found $25 in coins .maybe i was swinging the machine to fast or not sure .
