Brucee, Hi.
Have you tried to access the Minlaton Alluvial Fields? I believe its up your way around Stanley somewhere.
Also I did hear that there are small nuggies around Saddleworth, on council land. Also heard from the guy I got my first detector from that the council is not against it as long as permission is sought and that the area is treated with respect. TT

hi men thanks but the second link ask about user and pass, what is it please!!!
thank you

Teetulpa, near Yunta, is all on Private land. I've stayed on Teetulpa Station for Goat Hunting with an Archery Club. (with Station Managers Permission)
But this was before I got interested in Prospecting, so I don't know how that would be received.

Given my experience on those occasions, it is absolutely high clearance, low range 4x4 country, even on the property tracks.

Thanks for the link Nuggetino, an interesting read but sounds like getting gold out of SA will be a tough ask

Plenty of gold still coming out of the public fossicking areas. Just don't want to sweep over ground that has had a thousand detectors over it before. Need to think outside the box a bit and put in the hours walking and swinging.

Did a trip to Teetulpa last weekend..Drove from Adelaide to Yunta and then 30 to 40 km north on the dirt..Pretty good road not as good as WA though..Was going to see the station manager at Mt Victoria station but run into the lady that does the mail run and she said I wouldn't catch them cause they were rounding up stock and didn't get in till late..We took the caravan -8 deg in Yunta overnight..spent 3 days there and found bugger all..There is quartz reefs every where and quartz everywhere but no gold on the surface..Aparently the gold found there is in a old river bed 5-10 mtrs under the current surface..and is not associated with the quartz..They haven't found the source..and neither could I..The old timers found the old river bed where it was cut by the creek in Brady's gully..They dug Brady's gully out and dug down to the old river bed along It's edge..Nuggets up to 30 oz..These claims have been worked extensively since and a new operator is about to get serious..I checked many mullock heaps but also Nothing..I expected to find some small bits but nothing..It ? looks like the gold is only in the old river bet and out of reach with out a backhoe..Would be interested if anyone else has had a go up there..

"Alluvial gold was discovered at Teetulpa in 1886 by Thomas Brady and Thomas Smith. Reef mining soon commenced, but the reefs were narrow and low grade and only worked on very small scale. Teetulpa Goldfield is predominantly alluvial, from erosion of NS trending quartz sulphide reefs which cut across flaggy, well laminated siltstone of Tapley Hill Formation. Gold was reportedly found in sandy wash near the base of the alluvium, main alluvial leads representing fossil valley stream bed accumulations slightly offset from the main drainage. Within the first 4 weeks following discovery, the number of diggers on the field increased to 2 000 and at its peak the population was estimated at 4 000 - 5 000. Production is unknown. In 1908, Brown estimated that the total value of gold from the field was 300 000 pounds, equivalent to 100 000 ounces (3.1 tonnes). The largest nugget, The Joker weighed 29 oz 15 dwt (925.5 grams). After 1 year production was sporadic. Further attempts at underground mining were made in 1911, 1913 and 1934 and several companies have carried out reconnaissance exploration since 1966. Small scale mining activities are in progress."
