I like that what is said about us the out doors type of people are the custodians of the land and treat it as such.
.
I will say that as a general rule, We usually do not discuss politics on this forum but this so far has been an intelligent discussion.
Well Done people.
.
Only comment on that side is Fabianism.
Please just look it up and think about it. I do not wish to bring in a faction to this conversation that will ruin it.

Well said and spot on Scrounger.

It is a sad fact of life that we can rarely agree on the things that matter to us most.

I actually despair at the quality (or lack thereof) of politics these days. We oppose merely to oppose we disagree merely to disagree and we all want our own way on everything without being able to compromise.

Not sure what we will leave for our kids in this world.

Terry

Well said Explorer385, my only comment; there is no compromise between liberty and tyranny... In regards to the wilderness, we the outdoorsmen are the stewards of our lands and we should manage and protect them for their quality and use for all future generations. Locking us out will not stand.

All good points reefer and very par for the course mate!

But you know what, why get caught up in the politics of it all?

All i wanna do is go prospecting with a free reign, and F**k the rest of the worlds pressures!

A camp fire at night, a few beers and no radio of world news events.....Just the birds singing to me in the morning.

;)

A Mans world does not need to be fogged up with hidden clauses and BS to Trap him, just straight forward Laws without laws within Laws and that many chapters within more Laws,

A Mans word is Good enough and a shake of his Hand seals the Deal, and a Beer afterwards Sets it In Stone.

John

kawman, good to hear from you. Here in the US most prefer States Rights over our Federal government dictating policy. Let the people of each State decide what's best for them as a wide range of variables usually exist both politically and geographically. Just my thoughts...

Hey Rotgut,Here in Hervey Bay and the whole QLD coast of Australia, The Greenies with lots of help from anglers banned trawlers from dropping their nets in the Bays and beach fronts , The Trawler operators said this will make it worse as their nets kicked the silt up uncovering the seagrass beds and would help the local fishing ,they were shouted down by the doo gooders and greenies brought back their licenses ,and guess what, ten years later and the Bay is so silted up that many areas of seagrass are under a foot of mud and silt.and where i previously caught fish i dont even get a bite, i have to go out further to find deeper channels to catch anything,Now i see on the news that the green bans were such a success they are going to increase the areas, god help us from fools.

I've always been for conservation and not ruining our planet but watched ads by greenies about stored carbon ,FFS its ok now to cut down trees as they are then classed as stored carbon (whatthefuck) the worlds gone mad and the morons are the ones with all the power,im almost ready to give up,there answers are no using our bush as we will ruin the place at the same time no one picks up the deadwood and the tracks become overgrown and alls right till the next bush fire thats worse than previous ones (good one mr greeny)cmon Australians start yelling so we are heard.
your dead right rotgut except its worldwide not just the USA,

.
We cannot give up nicko61...

Tathradj, I've always been leery with any words that end in ism... I looked up Fabianism and see it is a socialist movement which cannot be good...

Doug... and all those posting.. i admit that my long winded rant was borderline political.in its concept i was just trying to point out how diverse our interests in access to our great land is and as such it is almost impossible to unite those cultural diverities in to one cohesive force for change...real and lasting change amongst ourselves and among the self effacing bureurocrats that dominate our State and Federal Government all of whom in turn are encouraged by their Ministerial Masters who echo the sentiment of their Corporate connections and lock up the land with their vast E.L's... the result is the minefield of Legislation that we... the common people have to traverse  ...Rot Grub you cannot have a truly free and democratic society unless it is supported by a strong sense of social conscience. Your preamble to the constitution speaks about ...'All Men are Created Equal.' that in essence is a socialistic statement, if you believe it.. as i do, then you have to ensure that it is practised, and seen to be practiced in the eyes of the world. decent wages, access to decent housing, the right to medical care religious freedom and freedom of association and a host of others are all a part of our Australian way..close to the heart for many of us is the issues arising from the armed rebellion of the 3rd of December 1855 at Ballarat Victoria known as the 'Eureka Rebellion'... i suggest, if you want to grasp a little of what it is that defines our society and what it means to be 'TRUE BLUE AUSSIE' you could purchase Peter Fitzsimmon's work..Eureka the Unfinished Revolution... AFTER ALL we all know about the Alamo.. the victory over the pommies in 1814 the Declaration of Independence IN 1776.. THE CIVIL WAR...ETC ETC.. EC BLOODY CETERA
cheers ;) ROSSCO.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.
In the US lobby groups with the most money and the loudest vioce are heard and heeded.
The silent majority because of ignorence and apathy are because of their silence, seen as consenting to change.

Reefer,
I know exactly where you are coming from mate.
We are constantly being harassed by do gooders from angles all over the place.
Things are getting to the point where some thing has to be done but where is it going to come from
in such a way as to make a big enough impact that our voice will be heard.
.
Maybe I should put a video together based on my own observations.
That will take some time to do but,,
Better come up with an Aussie version as to what RotGrub has eh.

Mate, Your enthusiasm is by itself enough to for me to really want to come. :)
I actually think this is going to be the highlight of the trip, Not to mention old and new friends
as well. :D
I certainly will be there with the Eureka Flag blazing out from my glass's across the expanse of the Tuena Campground
and will do my best to really hang in there Cobber. :D :D :D :D
If this event is of the magnitude it might be, Maybe a small note sent to the store for a Saturday night Hoedown. LOL
I do not wish to take advantage of your good nature my friend but what sort of musical interlude are we to be in anticipation of. :D

Mate.. obviously theres a little bluegrass, some Eagles, Slim dusty, redgum, simon and Garfunkle, nickle creek, casey chambers, john denver...chuck berry..traditional austrail, yun' neil dimond..one i wrote called 'Raise the True Blue Flag'..some more Eagles..... James Taylor..:p ...but really mate i would'nt make too much of it... its not about me or Adam just the members who might like a little music in their night... Ill make the mike available if theres others with a song in their heart or a tune they can play...i don't want to overload ourselves, I like to have a tipple or two and socialise :p just a tight little intimate group is good enough for me its all just a bit of a jam really and i hope that we play a small part in everyone having a good time. At 67 I'm getting on so i know my musical and physical limitations.. two or three half hour sets is about my vocal limit...but two or three shots of Jack Daniels will usually drag another set out of me
